ISM 450 up to 500 Project

For those interested in this saga.

I am finding all Cummins factory shops are not created equal.  As usual it all depends on who you are dealing with when it comes to technical subjects. Some folks are empty heads.
The person whom I set this up with is on vacation, That figures dont it.

After two trips to the Cummins Atlantic shop, we are still not done with the upgrade, Did get the new Bypass Turbo installed temporary, just to make sure it would fit. 

Two issues remain, one is changing the exhaust piping to allow for the bigger turbo and where & how to mount the electric intake pressure module on the intake on at the Foretravel version does not have the fittings to mount the module. 

So now they are chasing down how to mount or get proper intake manifold.

Am assured the increase in torque will make nice jump in performance,  (Maybe)

It is starting to look like the whole idea is not too bright, will see.

This mod is coming down to eliminating the present muffler and installing a resonator 5", in place.  I was wanting to do this anyway as it removes a large heat source from inside the engine compartment, IE, gets more heat outside, out of the inside compartment.
The turbo engine is quieter than a non turbo-ed and the resonator reduces the harshness a lot, making for a very acceptable level.
Then back to Cummins for the electric controller mounting on intake manifold and install the new bypass turbo, and last reprogram the ECM for the 500 @ 1550ft lb.

Interesting post Dave.  I will have to look closely at your upgrade.  I have found that they do not make our muffler any longer so I am thinking of the resonator too.
