Allison 4000 Transmission Max Temp

For anyone interested about the max temp of the Allison 4000 series, After communicating with both Tom Johnson (ex Allison oil engineer) and then James T @ Foretravel, was able to determine the temp allowed that is indicated on the dash gauge/VMSpc.  The sensor is mounted in the sump and the max temp is 250F, that will have the converter up to 300F. As long as your using the TranSynd oil, you should be OK.  DO NOT exceed this, they say.

The reason for using the sump temp instead of the converter, outlet to cooler, inlet from cooler, is the sump is a more steady temp as it does not vary as quick.
FWIW as usual
