Changing Fuel Filters

Our coach is a 2003 designer/U320.  I have a new correct fuel filter.  Installation seems straightforward.  Is there a hidden pre-filter somewhere?  In my paperwork, I cannot find an operations manual for the Rayco Water Air Separator.  Can someone direct me where I can download an operations manual?

Thank you

Gregory,
Can you see a clear strainer on the unit or is there a black plastic cover?

You have the old Winns system. That is your"Prefilter"  These strainers have a tendency to leak at the "O" rings so be carefull when removing/installing. If it's in good shape, just flush it out and reuse. After installing the primary filter you purge the air by turning the ignition to run and activating the switch in the engine compartment. Remove the cap from the shradder valve, in advance, and bleed the air out while the priming pump is running. You may have to run the priming pump several times. BTW you may want to change your secondary filter at the same time as the primary.

With the old WINN air/water fuel seperator system, you do not have to press the schrader valve to purge the air. However, using the shrader will purge the air faster, but the system is designed to push the air to the fuel tank via a return fuel line. I replaced my WINN system with a Racor system because the WINN purge pump was broken so it did not work. Before replacing the WINN, I used an old air hose and clear tubing to suck the air out, which worked well, but was not convenient and did not taste very good.
