When a coach has two automatic transfer switches under the bed, one switch has a cable going the main breaker in the big breaker box (the one with a door). The other switch has a cable going to the smaller inverter breaker box's main breaker. When there is only one transfer switch, it goes to the main breaker box.

Progressive Industries hard-wired version is inserted in the cable from or to the transfer switch that is wired to the main breaker box.  Choice of cable is determined whether the
Progressive industries protects coach from generator anomalies or protects the automatic transfer switch from shore power anomalies. It cannot protect both and one must choose. Either choice, the coach is fully protected from shore power problems.

We believe in protecting from generator problems by putting Progressive Industries HW50C in the cable feeding the main 50-amp breaker in the larger main circuit breaker box with the metal door covering the breakers. An added advantage of this choice is the Progressive Industries meter can display generator voltage, amps and frequency. Generator display is not possible when HW50C is connected on the shore power cable feed to the transfer switch.
