Water hoses - revisited

When we bought our motorhome I also had to buy a LOT of miscellaneous items, including a water hose. 

Made my first mistake and bought the bargain hose guaranteed to never kink. Yeah, right!

Then I saw a quality water hose at a rally and bought two 25' hoses from the RV Water Filter Store.  (Love that place).  Obviously, these are not cheap, but they do not kink and they are so much easier to handle.

Attached photos show both hoses. I kept the el cheapo in case I ever need an additional 25 foot section.

Thanks George.

I saw something like those at the local Tru Value hardware store, labelled as a "Potable Water Hose". I'm guessing it's the same thing (?). Was thinking one 25 footer would be enough... hmmm. No doubt the first time I go to use it I'll need another 3 feet.  :)

Hmm.  Not sure what is worse, a too short water hose or a too short sewer hose!

We are all guilty of having cheap water hoses on the place.... every time I have to walk to get a kink out I swear never again...... On another note I have a couple "high end" hoses that on ocassion will try to kink... as a rule the better hoses get fewer "knots" in them....... Kinks in a water hose are a pet peve of mine.... is it just me or does it pee off others as well.

True that good hoses do not kink but sometimes I have been in places, usually fairgrounds that has such a long run that I do carry a few cheap hoses to connect up.... I have had to put three extension cords on too at times... But I had power. I did not like the long fun so treated it as 30 amps plus... and it was fall and there was not much call for power...

Totally agree with you, George.  You get what you pay for.  I noticed in the pictures that you do not "close up" your hoses when not in use (hook-up the male to the female end).  I do this to prevent any leaking of water left in the hose as well as preventing unwelcomed "things" to get inside the hoses while in storage.

A closer look is in order.  The cheap hose will never be used for potable water, so I do nothing.  The quality hose has threaded plastic caps on each end.

I do not close them so that they can dry out and that the air trapped in there with the water will not mold....
