Cummins 8.3 seal leak

While my 95 U280 was on the rack at the Tranny shop I had a good look under it.  I have had a slight seep at the crankshaft Seal ( front of engine, rear of coach ) for some time.  It has now really begun to leak.
Has anyone here had any experience with replacing this seal ?  Looks to me like engine mount, vibration damper and all pulleys plus engine cover will have to come off to replace it.
I assume its going to be a Cummins shop job.
Any ideas ?"

Gary, Two things,
 1st, Cummns mechanics love to work on Foretravels, they are so easy to work on.
2nd, With the front seal (at rear of coach) is is a easy simple job for them.

Also, you would laugh to see some of the crap they get into on the SOB stuff, only access is down from top or up from bottom,  Easy to understand why they love our units.

I am guessing your coach opens up the back end like the later ones?

I've had excellent luck with seal leak additives, especially in auto transmissions. Stopped a really bad leak cold. Seals get harder as they get older. Additives soften and expand them. Check on other forums for success rates.

Pierce, I had not thought of a sealant, I'll Try that before I turn it over to Cummins.
Dave Yeah, Mine has the big hatch at the rear, really accessible.  The 85 ORED w/3208 I had was really a b..., almost everything you did had to be from under the bed.
