tire prices

What do you think is the percentage markup on tires of various manufactures? thanks jc

Not sure if this will be much help but I just bought six Michelin, XZE2, 275/80 22.5's for my coach and found that negotiations can lower the price.  I paid $ 3,200, out the door vs. the originally proposed price of $ 3,580.  I refused to pay the disposal fee of $58/tire and paid in cash.  I have heard that some dealers will purchase used tires to resale for farm equip. but only if they are only a couple years old.

Good for you! Negotiation with a cash incentive usually works well. They probably pocket the $58/tire and sell the old but good tread tire elsewhere or out of the country so they are not getting hurt. Yard maintenance trucks could care less what the date is on the side.

In many parts of the world, negotiation is part of everyday life. Someone who pays asking price is laughed about after they leave. You just have to listen to all the reasons they can't accept your offer and then tell them about the increased airfare, the taxi that ripped you off, etc. May take a while making the deal but usually over mint tea or something. Very enjoyable once you get used to it (and have the time).

We have a favorite hotel in Mexico City behind the cathedral. Rack price is good but I offered cash for a 10% discount and got instant OK.

FMCA has a Michelin discount program with the following stated prices:
I don't have any other information or know prices of other tire sizes.

FMCA has signed up for Michelin's Advantage Program. This program is intended to provide competitive prices on Michelin RV tires at all authorized Michelin RV tire dealers. It does not guarantee the lowest price, as local dealers may be able to provide local customers with better prices.
In today's environment, raw material costs have driven tire prices up recently, and some dealers may have tire inventory purchased before some of these increases, which may allow them to provide even more competitive prices than the Advantage Program provides.
The FMCA Michelin Advantage Program will, however, allow members to buy new tires at the program price at any authorized Michelin RV Tire Dealer across the United States, ensuring that they won't pay higher base prices. This could come in especially handy when a tire emergency occurs while you are traveling.
Any fees for mounting, balancing, state and local taxes, and tire disposal are extra and quoted locally by the servicing dealer, so those fees are not included in the program.
The tire purchase must be paid for with a credit card at the servicing dealership. Michelin's corporate office will charge the credit card the discounted price. FMCA will then send the member — via e-mail — a copy of the invoice that reflects the total with the Advantage Program discount.
Currently, the FMCA Michelin Advantage Program is available at Michelin dealers within the United States. FMCA is hopeful that a similar program can be arranged with Michelin dealers in Canada.
Tires for passenger cars and SUVs are not included in the program.
This Michelin Advantage Program was originally designed to support trucking customers. The FMCA program is the first opportunity for RV owners to access the benefits. Because FMCA was added to the program very recently, it may take some time for all of the Michelin dealers to be aware of it. Michelin is working to ensure that its dealers and customer care representatives are aware that FMCA is a new member of the program.

We had 1999 date code tires on the front wheels. In spite of their age, the tread looked almost new. I had them replaced (BF Goodrich) this spring before our trip.  If I remember correctly, I got approx. $60.00 per tire due to their condition.  Apparently some people put these tires on a trailer that is used for local use only.
