Slide seal

The slide seal on the large slide on my 2002 u320  3620 is leaking.  FT is promising to have one available in the next few weeks.  However, I am a long ways from any FT repair facility and plan to attempt the replacement in my own well equipped shop.  I understand that the proper procedure is to run the slide out in beyond its normal stops to allow access to the seal.  Has anyone seen this done and how do you access the slides and stops?  Thanks very much.

I would check with FT.  We have a 2002 as well and on our coach, the slide is actually "PUSHED IN" after all the HWH connects have been modified.  We just did this today at FOT. Not for the bladder but for the slide block.

just an fyi.

When I saw it being done at FOT last year, the slide was manually pushed inside the side wall to access the bladder. It was a BIG job and required several technicians. As I recall it took a lot of effort to remove the old seal, a heat gun and some special tools to re install, not something I would attempt

I agree with Kent.  Just nick that bladder by pinching or whatever and you will buy another one for something around $2,000.  It is very satisfying to be able to make a major repair on your own, but some tasks are best left to those who have done them before.  Just my two cents worth.

You know I wanted to say the same thing but about my 93, but I wouldn't do that to Jeff.

We had our slide serviced last year at FOT (2003, U295).  It took two techs about 4 hours to replace the double stick tape under the seal.  I posted the pictures on the forum last spring and Barry Beam has them on his website (see above).  I watched the techs, but did not see everything that was done.  I would not want to do this job, but it did not seem to require any special equipment.  Good luck!
