1999 U320 Water Pump Fails to Run

The pump has worked fine for more than two years since we got the FT.

Any reason to believe that all is required is to replace with a new pump?

When the pump did run, it started and stopped right away, which leads me to believe there is no Accumulator Tank, as my 1997 U295 had. Correct?

Check for power to the pump. Could be that the relay behind the cover in the storage bay has failed. Believe the pump on my '99 U320 has an inline fuse near the pump: that could a problem too. Easy enough to remove the pump and test with a 12v source to verify pump operation. It can be run dry for a short time.

My '99 has an accumulator tank. Could it be that the tank bladder failed before you bought the coach and never did provide the "cushion" to delay the start of the pump? When you remove the panels to access the pump you will quickly find whether or not you have an accumulator tank. If you do, press on the schrader valve. If you get water out, the bladder has failed. If you don't get water out, you can try repressurizing the tank through the schrader valve.

The pressure switch on our pump failed last year.  The switch is built into the pump so I had to replace with a new pump.  I was wondering what the accumulator tank air pressure should be with the pump turned off and line pressure relieved.

Before anything else I would try turning on a faucet, turning on the pump, and then try wiggling the wires to and from the pump. Our traveling earthquakes tend to loosen things up. Check for continuity and ground all the way from the switch to the pump.

Thanks, all!
This morning I had run water into the RV from the shore connection to prepare breakfast, etc. Then I turned off shore water an hour or so ago.

A few minutes ago I turned the pump switch on, opened a faucet in the bathroom sink and I heard the pump start and pump water from the tank for a few seconds.

Would this suggest pressure switch problem or accumulator tank problem/pressure problem, OR?

Sounds more like a pressure switch or other electrical problem to me.  If you have a VOM you can check for voltage at the pump.  With the pump switch on and a faucet open you should have voltage to the pump.  If you have voltage there and the pump still doesn't operate it's either a bad pump motor, pressure switch or connection.

If you don't have voltage to the pump it could be the rocker switch or fuse/circuit breaker.  I had a problem with one of the self resetting circuit breakers on another circuit.  It would intermittently fail but reset itself before I could trace down the problem.  It took a few months and a lot of head scratching but it finally failed completely. One new $2.00 circuit breaker and the problem was solved.

Were do you find the circuit breaker for the water pump? I have a 99 U320. I have no power to the pump and can't find the breaker.

I have not looked at the circuit diagram but it may be behind the white panel in the main basement bay. The panel is fastened on with 3 screw nuts. They are all manually resetable.

I found the relay...reset it and it kicked out again. Checked the pump and I think it has a short in it.

Not sure what pump your coach came with, but ours had a FloJet which failed with a frozen motor.  Would pop the breaker when reset and started.  I replaced it with a FloJet 4406 from Camping World.  The new ones say not to use an accumulator but will work with the accumulator in the loop (may be quicker replacement) if you release the pressure from the accumulator air valve.
