Anyone in the Houston area that could take a look at a Foretravel at PPL

Hi,

We are presently looking (seriously) at a 93 Grandvilla that PPL currently has in stock.  Is there anyone in the area who would be willing to go by and take a look at the coach for us?  We are in the Four Corners area and can be there in about 3 to 4 days -- but before we make the trip (or go any further) would like to know if it is worth it to proceed.

Thanks.

Jerry and Katie Berard

That's one of my "watch" coaches. There were two listed a couple of weeks ago, then one sold. This one was listed as "pending" for a few days, then the "pending" went away, so I guess it didn't pass the buyer's inspection or the buyer couldn't get the financing.

We bought a 1997 Fleetwood Discovery at PPL. It was a good experience. We bought it the first day it was made available on the lot. In the summer, the good deals can turn over very fast at PPL. It's probably much slower business this time of year. The not so good deals can take longer. When we were watching vehicles at PPL, a GV was on the lot for months. We were not keen on the interior colors. The engine had been "hot rodded" with propane injection.

We kept the Discovery for eight months. We spent some money making improvements. Then we upgraded to a 1997 U295. MOT sold the Discovery on consignment for a bit more than we paid for it. If you "get in" at a good price, you can "get out" easily if your requirements change.

I expect Rudy Legett would be a good person to help do a good look at something in the Houston area. He has provided me with some help and good information.

One suggestion would be to contact Motorhomes of Texas and just let them know what you are looking for.  David Robertson has a huge contact list of folks who either want to buy or sell their coaches.  He may know of a coach that fits what you are looking for that is not on anyone's website/lot yet.  And he knows FT's inside and out as he used to sell them for Foretravel.
We contacted David before he even opened the doors of MOT and gave him our spec's for a coach. Within a day, he found what we were looking and had it on his lot for us to look at.
Can't say enough about the sale at MOT.  Great experience.

Pictures online can be deceiving...I looked at that coach....overall I think it was decent, but a little rough...hard to tellfrom pictures.Being a GV and priced right(seems to me) it would probably be worth checking out in person...as you already know, there's not many available.Rudy sounds like your best bet from afar..best of luck

In 2008 we asked Rudy to drive to Nacagdoches to look at a coach for us.  While Rudy did not ask, we covered his fuel costs and took him and Carolyn out for dinner to his favorite restaurant.    His knowledge is extensive and his character is impeccable.  I would trust Rudy without question.
