Michelin / FMCA tire discount offer

Hi Group,

Several months ago, or even last year, there was a Michelin/FMCA offer for RV tires at highly reduced prices on the FMCA website and others.  Does anyone know if this offer still exists and any date of expiration?

Hi Folks

I am in the market for six Michelin 275/80 R22.5 Load range H XZA3+ About $4500 before discount.  Has anyone bought tires threw FMCA Advantage Account? If so how was the discount?

Here are the prices through the FMCA Program.  You have to add state sales tax, mounting and balancing and disposal fee.  If your old tires are worth anything, subtract that from the total:

The Michelin 275/80 R22.5 Load range H XZA3+ aren't on that price sheet, only XZA2's. Are the XZA3+'s not available in the FMCA program?

Yes, that list was just a sampling of the more popular sizes for RV applications.

I had a lengthly talk with one of the managers (I can't find his card right now) at Herman Powers.
He didn't know anything about the plan but called his Michelin distributor and got the program details.

Should be easy.
The only problem is that he can't tell me exactly what it will cost me, only that it will be cheaper for me and he'll make $8/tire more too.

I will be contacting FMCA to try and find out before I buy.

Herman Power Tire in Nacogdoches is a large shop where two brothers, Greg & Frank Power are hands-on owners. Usually both or one of them are running the show.
Each brother sort of has their own customers. We have been working with Greg Power for many years and buy all of our motorhome tires from him. Frank is also easy to deal with. Dad Herman Power started the business.

I just talked to FMCA . The prices they invoice under the agreement are:

XZA3+  2755/80R 22.5 LR G is 497.39 plus 25.23 FET
                                      H    521.00        34.59

XZE  275/80R 22.5          H    504.78          34.59

Then plus mounting, etc.
These are the only currently produced tread designs for 275/80R 22,5s that I find on the Michelin site.
The XZA3+  is a steer tire and the XZEs are designated 'Regional' which Greg Powers says is fine for our usage pattern. The slightly deeper tread and the little higher tolerance for scuffing sounds good.

My inclination is to use XZA3+s on the front and XZEs on the back.

I am willing to be persuaded otherwise.

FMCA price on the XZA1+ is453.68+25.23 FET.

FWIW, we run XZA1+ LRG on a 36' U295. They hold the coach off the ground and roll down the highway when we need to move. We bought the coach in April, 2010, and took it to MOT. We left instructions to service it and get tires. Herman Power chose the tires. I have been satisfied so far and can't say whether they are better or worse than any other tire.

I bought Michelin XZA1+ 275 80 22.5 LR-G tires at Hermans in April 2010, for my 1996 U320.
Price was $435 mounted and balanced but motorhome was going to be registered in Canada, I paid cash, and he had the tires in stock.

I have put 9000 miles on these tires and they seem good to me.

A lot of folks will use LR-H rather than LR-G, even though the LR-G will carry the weight.
Michelin load charts show lower pressure for LR-H than for LR-G at the same weight, which I do not understand because the tire sizes are the same.

It seems that the XZA1+ tires cost less than the other Michelin tires, does anyone know why?

XZA3 tires require that tires rotate in one direction to take advantage of angled sipes near edges of tire tread.

Steer tire designation means that a tire is designed to be mounted on the front axle as well as be mounted on all other axles. We find XZA are the tire of choice for all wheel positions.

Load Range H gives us safety margins needed for lower tire pressures on a cold morning, side wheel loading due to side winds & highway cornering.

There are no safety, ride or longevity downsides to using XZA3 Load Range H on all wheel positions.


(Based on above posted FMCA prices, LR-H tire approximate cost is $521 + 34.59 FET + 36.00 sales tax + $25 mount + 25 balance = $640)

We bought a set of XZA3+ tires a few weeks ago using the FMCA program. It went pretty much how the process is described in the advisory paper. The payment deal is a little weird. You pay the dealer with your credit or debit card but at that point you don't really know the actual price. We checked our account online that evening and noted a debit for a greater amount than we expected. The following morning the debit remained but we also had a credit for the same amount. Later that day we were debited the correct amount. There are several variables that will make each purchase different (mounting, valves and so on). And in our case the dealer purchased our old tires.

We just replaced the rear tires with XZA1+ load range G and the front with XZA3+ load range H on the FMCA alliance account. $3495 out the door. About $500 less than the Michelin dealer quoted. The XZA3+ tires drive much better than the XZA2 tires that were on the coach.
