Sometimes I wish my learning curve wasn't so severe!

So we're getting our 1993 U300 ready for fulltiming and our first journey to Florida.  I started sanitizing the water system - we had some battery issues and the furnaces did not kick on one very cold night...needless to say we now get water from places we should not!

Battery issue is solved so tomorrow we will see if we can find the leak(s).  Wish us luck.  Any info on locating plumbing would be fantastic.  It seems to be leaking mainly from above the compartment to the left of the water fill & drain station.

If you can get a photo of the location where you are seeing the leaks, it would be very helpful. I'm not clear on the location.

I had a fitting pop off in cold weather from the water line to the ice maker. Take a look in the vacuum compartment under the fridge, in the fridge outside access panel and also under the sink. This would be above and to the left of the water fill.

If your refrigerator has a built in ice maker, check the water line to it and the drain line that goes down into the compartment next to the exterior water faucet.

It also could be just a leak in the water lines going to the exterior faucet. If so you would have to remove the fiberglass panel which means also removing the paper towel holder, the soap dispenser, and the caulk around the panel. As I recall you don't have to remove the electric outlet or the faucet. They will come out with the panel.

If you do remove this panel, you may want to replace the dump valves and the water fill bib in the panel itself. Be sure to get a bib with a check valve. Don't forget to thoroughly empty and clean the gray and black tank before messing with the valves. Adding a third Valtera valve at the dump outlet is one of the best adds you can do to your coach. It makes dumping the tanks much easier and cleaner. You can find a number of forum posts regarding the third valve for further information.

I would try to just fix the leak and get to Florida and warm weather before you have to do a lot of work!!  Then, have at it.

You have to watch that ice line. It is the first place I would look...

You may also want to check the ADC water filter under the sink.  Sometimes this leaks if not properly inserted into the cartridge.

Well the RV Gods were smiling down on us today - turns out the fill line to the water filter had come out of the fitting!  All fixed and ready to go.  We had a very productive day in getting things loaded and are on schedule to leave for warmer climates on Thursday!  Thanks everyone for all the help!  I know we'll be needing more!  Happy New Year to all!

That water filter line problem is not uncommon but hard to find if you don't know where to look. Let's hope that is the worst problem you have this year.

Don't try to outguess yourself.  Your learning curve is probably no worse than the rest of us.  Keep in mind that many of us have been at this for a long time.  In my case I am on my 4Th MH and third FT, in fifteen years of FT's I have made all the mistakes than anyone can make and then some.  Only because of all the help I receive here am I able to keep on keeping on.  If I had to depend on garages and so called technicians I would have been broke a long time ago ( still close ).  Keep asking questions soon you will find that you have on your own gained knowledge that can be passed along to the rest of us.
Happy New Year to all. In my case 2012 has to be better than 2011 healthwise.
