Dash alarm/buzzer/dinger volume

Installed a new temp gauge to replace the one I killed with Simple Green and hose water I am guessing.  After the cleaning I got the dash warning light and the alarm sounding.  Went to the alarm with a screw driver and found that I could dial it off.  The light and the gauge showed over temp at 160-180.  With the new sender the light is out.

Dolly and Clare are very happy to not hear the audible alarm for everything wrong, like jacks down, antenna up, air low, engine heat high.  I will just have to look at the warning lights and keep an eye on the gauges like on every other vehicle we own.

And the best news is my cleaning of the engine and bay area, "fixed" the non working cruise control.  Kent said it was working last he drove it, and now it is working again.

Moral of the story is some cleaning and water is bad, and some cleaning and water is good.  Now to learn the differences.

Marilyn and I went for our first ride in a Foretravel at MOT about two years ago. Stewart drove the unit out of the parking lot. The first time he activated the turn signal, my response was, "Oh! It has a geezer alarm!" :D The folk who built this thing know their customers.

Most of the time, we are pleased to have the "geezer alarm." For us, it is a great reminder that something needs special attention. There may be an adjustment screw somewhere, but I haven't found it on our 1997 coach. A piece of tape placed with care over the noise maker works well for us. We can hear the alarm, but it is only appropriately annoying.

Geezer Alarm! ;D
This is something on my list... A volume control for the Geezer alarm! I was just going through some of the features and specifications for the various years and models on Barry B's website (thank you Barry! Great resource, Foretravel shouyld be giving you free oil changes or such...). Anyway, I noticed, at least on the 93' U280, they listed self canceling turnsignal with audible alarm and volume control. Why did that go away? Has anybody actually installed a volume control on this? Or bettery yet, how about a 30 second delay before sounding the Klaxons of doom? I swear that the sound imparts an urgency that makes me feel like I better get this lane change done in a hurry!

Don:  The turn signals in my 99 U270 which I sold had loud loud turn signal beebs.  The 2002 U295 I have now is the way it should be.  Much more pleasant when making a turn.  I understand your irritation.  DAN

Don, I expect you can find the "buzzer" behind the dashboard. On our coach it hangs by a couple of wires from a circuit board. I found that I could put a piece of painters' tape over the emitter to control the volume. By adjusting how much of the face of the emitter is covered, I can regulate the volume. I adjust it to a volume that is just loud enough to notice when traveling at highway speeds in strong head winds.

The alarm may have a volume control. I haven't looked carefully. The "tape kludge" has been an easy, effective solution. "There, I fixed it!" :P

Well, on my alarm face, next to the center hole is a very small phillips head screw.  Thinking it was the ground for the system, I pulled out my Swiss army knife, with the tiny flat blade screwdriver end.  As I was messing and starting to remove the screw to I thought release the wire, the pitch and volume changed.  As I tightened the screw, the noise stopped!

Talking to the ever helpful parts guys at FOT, I learned I could buy another alarm at Radio Shack if I needed one.  We are going to be happy with the alarm turned off, thank you.  I will of course have to be carefully not leave on the turn signals, as I too become an old gizzer.
