Wanted - Analog VDO speedometer for 1995 U300 (3 3/8" case dia. )

Looking for an analog style replacement for my 1995 vintage VDO speedometer. Original VDO pn# 1-211-012-138A . Original is no longer made - would need to replace with similar unit with digital odometer. Thought someone might have an old unit left over from a dash conversion.  VDO dealers are telling me the current replacement is a # 437-152B @ $186.57

My speedo odometer crapped out,,,,,I sent it to lauderdale speedometer in fla. They rebuilt it AND put the correct mileage on the odometer. Lauderdale Speedometer and Compass

Jon,

You did not say if your original just quit or what. I used North Hollywood Speedometer a lot in the 80's for repairs, re-calibration. A dealer like them should be able to get parts for your old one. I suspect a lot of analog inside parts may be the same. Quite a few car guys do restorations so someone must be able to repair yours. Expect at least $125 to repair if possible. VDO stuff is made in Germany so very pricey. Could also check ebay in the chance one might turn up.

$186 seems reasonable for a replacement if you can't find anything else. EZ for a VDO shop to match speedo gears to RV rear end ratios for proper readings.

Talked to the master distributor in Allentown, Pa. and two service center distributors ( Nichols Speedometer in Greensboro NC and Lauderdale Speedometer) both said "no repair".  Found another place "Vehicle Controls" in Mich. that had a digital odometer replacement ( $76.00 plus shipping ).  Not sure if what their offering is what I need.

In August I replaced my VDO speedometer with a VDO 437 152.  I used Commercial Speedometer Service in West Sacramento.  They set it to the correct mileage.  Contact Greg Burlin at 916 371 5873.  Cost for speedometer was $156 40.  Labor to set correct mileage, $40.00.  Very good service.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and contact info.  Sending my unit to Instrument Exchange, in Houston, Tx. for n/c evaluation (  Thanks Rudy ).  Will advise final results.
