Desk installation

Well,

It's been awhile, but my music production desk / entertainment center is finally been installed. Nothing put in it or connected yet, but the major part is done.

As this desk will be filled with electronics, vibration isolation and shock damping is all important. To that end, I used vibration isolation pads between the bottom of the desk and the carpet, and the desk was secured to the wall with vibration isolators as well. This allows movement without transmiitting the shock loads. The wall mounted isolators were secured to the tube framing of the coach. Magnets were used on the outside to located the framing; a frame member was found to be running parallel to the floor about six inches below the window frame. Transferred the measurements to the inside and secured the isolators. The desk was then moved into place and bolted to the isolators.

Two Event Project Studio monitor speakers were mounted to the desk, using round squishy sorbothane stick-on feet as isolators. A hole was drilled through the bottom of the center of the speakers, and a corresponding hole was drilled through the desk. A plate washer and wood screw installed from below keeps the speakers from moving around, just tight enough to compress the sorbothane isolators a little. A Ergotron articulating monitor support arm was installed in the center of the desk, using the through hole mounting option. A 28 inch HD lcd monitor will be bolted on.

Much to do, but it's coming together. Will be rolling soon.

Steve, you make us all feel lazy. I sure hope the drive train is as great as you coach overhaul. NICE JOB!

The wall mounted isolators I found here --> Vibration Mounts eStore Cylindrical Rubber Anti Vibration Mounts Rubber Neoprene

The isolation pads I found on Amazon --> Amazon.com: 4 Pack of Anti Vibration Pads 4" x 4" x 7/8" All Purpose Super Duty . Cut these into pieces and fit them underneath the desk.

As to the drivetrain - just got it back a week ago from major servicing. New exhaust manifold, lift pump, fuel shut-off solenoid, aftercooler removed and cleaned inside and out, rad pulled and rodded, new front crank seal, new rocker cover gaskets, engine bay cleaned, fuel tank pulled and leak repaired, all brakes checked and cleaned, new wheel seals, all filters, fluids and belts replaced, new Koni shocks, new air governor, air system checked front to back and leaks repaired, etc, etc. Going to get some pictures of the engine bay as it looks now. I have a before picture that is somewhat nasty.

Thanks for the links Steve! Wow! The mechanical stuff you got done is awesome! That has to feel good... she sounds like she is ready to roll on to the million mile club with just the basic maintainence stuff as needed. Looking forward to more pics of the desk with the equipment in place. Cable management will be a challenge, but I bet you are up to it...
