Lubrafiner Gasket

Where would one get the heavy big (8") gasket that goes between the top cover & the body of the lubrafiner? I had my oil changed at Oregon Motorcoach & it has leaked ever since. The picture shows the lubrifiner on my 97 U320 450hp Cummins. Any ideas are welcomed.

You might check to see if the ring around the top is not upside down or not seated properly. jc

You might check to see if the top band/clamp is assembled correctly...if not it usually leaks oil. Hold it in you hands to mate the two halves similarly then note the wider portion goes in a certain direction when placing it  around the tank and cover.

It's the reservoir for the hydraulics (fan motors for the cooling system; power steering pump).

Frequently the band clamp rusts, with flakes becoming imbedded in the seal.  I have had good luck cleaning up the band clamp and seal, repainting the clamp, making sure everything is oil-free, then re-assembling correctly.  Good luck!

When mine leaked I found it to be over serviced.  When I lowered the oil level to the correct level it stopped leaking.

Ours leaked after a mechanic put the clamp together incorrectly. An earlier post referred to the problem. Each half of the clamp has a wide end and a narrow end. If assembled correctly, each narrow end fits into each wide end. If the halves don't mate correctly, the clamp won't pull the lid down properly.

I bought spare gaskets from FOT.

Hydraulic tank covers leak because any corrosion on the metal surface under the gasket is not removed and gasket not seated evenly all the way around.

But often the ring that holds the cover & gasket to the tank is put on wrong. Many do not realize that the ring can only do it job if the larger fitting is matched with the smaller fitting and if put on reversed the clamp cannot be closed down tight enough to stop leaks around the gasket.

I would examine the clamping ring, remove it to be sure you have a gasket, clean surfaces and put ring back on correctly. Your leak may stop. Tighten bolts snuggly.

Thank you for the replies. When I checked the clamp on the top of the canister it was as all have suggested, installed wrong. I have installed it properly with a new gasket. I believe it was Dave Metzger that had posted the part #s for the gasket & the filter (the post is not showing up now), thank you as I was able to get the gasket from Cummings using those part numbers.
