Crashed an Airstream Rally!

Arrived on Thursday in hot springs. Pulled in to find this weekend to be an Airstream rally. Very cool group of folks and trailers. We walked through all of them during the "open house" and they all walked through our Foretravel. I have to say that when we were inside an airstream, we did not miss our slides!  All of them were different but all were really cool! 

Had cocktails last night in one and had 8 of us inside and did not feel cramped. Just amazing how they feel.

For a travel trailer, the Airstream is very impressive.  Even the new ones!  Certainly a class act in the RV industry.

Like any brand, the owners have their opinions.  I have met several owners that wish they had their older one instead of their newest ones being built.

I have been in one of the new Eddie Baur toy box, flip lid rear door model.  It was really well designed, and the more you sat and studied it, the more you realized it had exactly what you needed.  The owner is a first timer and after a year she is still thrilled with all it has, does and how well it works.

Sure love the vintage models in full gloss shine, what fun to see the classic being used and enjoyed.

An Airstream is our option should we ever decide that going up and down the steps of a Foretravel is too much. Interestingly, Jo Ann doesn't feel cramped in an Airstream or Foretravel, but she does in a 'Bird. I believe that the headroom is about the same in an Airstream and 'Bird, and taller in a Foretravel. The big drawback to an Airstream (or any travel trailer, for that matter) is the lack of basement storage space. Of course, that's why it doesn't have as many steps.

While at Potter's Creek last November there were two fifth-wheelers there. They were really beautiful and one owner told me that they were Redwoods made by Airstream. Seems the Airstream people were being pestered to come out with a 5-er and this was it. Guess it took them awhile but results were very good. Quality, floor plan, esthetic beauty were all there.

Redwood is actually a division of Thor Industries, as is Airstream. Airstream actually did produce a 5'er, but it wasn't a success as I understand. They are quite rare.
