Re: Help with small Hydraulic leak

I recently had Alan Lassetter at his truck repair facility in Channelview, TX, pull the plate in your picture, replace the shaft seal that was leaking and the O-ring that seals the plate. The labor was $259 and the seal kit was $82. In and out in 3 hours.
The plate has a large bearing carrier and bearing extending several inches into the case with the pitman shaft riding inside the bearing. Lots of muscle power to remove and install.
Some fluid will leak but can be topped off to finish the job. If you do the job, place a catch pan below the steering box.
Chaulk Truck parts in Houston has the seal kit, rebuilt steering boxes on the shelf and will rebuild yours if asked.

A skilled big truck repair place in Corpus should be able to do the same for you down there. Our steering box is on lots of big trucks.
