As Rudy suggests, there is no need to drain unless you see water or debris in the bottom of the clear bowl. The clear bowl lets you determine the need to drain vs the solid filters where you can not see if there in any contamination without opening the drain.
And, if you do need to drain out contaminants, use a small glass jar so you can quit draining when clear, golden diesel begins to flow.
