How to empty this fuel/wtr seperator? U320 2000

Duh.... OK - So how do I empty this fuel/water separator that I found behind the steps on my 2000 U320?  Just loosen the bottom valve and let the water drain out?  Just look at it sideways :)

Steve,

This is a Racor R12T 10 micron fuel filter used often for Aqua Hot installations.  The correct orientation is to have the black drain knob pointing straight down (is your picture turned sideways?).  The Racor R12T filter has been replaced with a fleetguard brand filter.

Most Foretravel Aqua Hot fuel filters are in the first bay on the driver's side with the generator radiator and fan, not behind the steps.  I could not see fuel lines in the picture and have no idea what else it might be for but would check the front bay for the AH fuel filter.

When orientated properly, just open the black knob and the bowl will drain plus the bowl allows a visual inspection to see if water is present.

As Rudy suggests, there is no need to drain unless you see water or debris in the bottom of the clear bowl.  The clear bowl lets you determine the need to drain vs the solid filters where you can not see if there in any contamination without opening the drain.

And, if you do need to drain out contaminants, use a small glass jar so you can quit draining when clear, golden diesel begins to flow.

Steve,

That is the fuel filter for the generator-- looks the same as one for the Aqua Hot.

If you just wipe off the outside so you can see if there are contaminants in the bowl, that is all you need to do unless you see contamination.
