Valve and wet bay mods

Today I tore into the wet bay and pulled the panels to access the valves because they were somewhat hard to pull and I was concerned about cable failure. I also wanted to install an access door similer to the one Steve recently did.
Removed both valves and they appeared in good condition but the gaskets were a little dried out. Replaced those and lubed all the moving parts up with silicone lube.
Put about a 3rd of a tank of water in each and checked for leaks.
Marked and cut out a 12"x9" opening and made an access door from a piece of diamond plate aluminum that I had laying around. Put 4 screws in it and have already used it as one of the valve cables needed tweaking.

I also cut off the Thetford fitting and installed a Valterra because I wanted to utilize a twist on 3rd valve for backflushing and as a backup to cable valve failure.

All and all happy with the results. The only hiccup I had was when I without thinking pulled the grey water cable to see if it worked better and ended up with a lapfull of water. Just glad the tanks were clean and it wasn't the real thing. :o

Also added pipe insulation to all the water lines that I could reach while the panels were out. Figure it's good insurance now that the coach lives in the Northeast.

looking good! Did you install the sprayer ? I only have the original faucet , but it has a lowpoint  drain petcock in the bowl of the valve for freeze protection and I have been unable to find a replacement with the low point drain. Gam

Thanks. No, the sprayer was in the bay when we bought the coach. Yeah, I wish this one had a low point drain as well but now with the access panel I can simply reach in and remove the lines to drain for cold weather storage.

I do plan to add a pump winterizing kit to be able to pump RV antifreeze through the coach too.  Pump Converter Winterizer Kit - Camco RV 36543 - Winterizing - Camping World

You can drill a hole in the faucet and tap it for 1/8 inch pipe thread and then install a drain cock as this is what the factory did.
