Vacuume pump

Any one had to replace the vacuum pump located in the step compartment for the dash A/C controls. I just know the F/T parts department is going to hurt my feelings.

Bruce,  I just recently found out that my Daughter in law works for a company that sells Vacuum Pumps and that she can arrange for individuals to buy from them.  The name of the Company is GARST ( sp ).  They are out of town right now and will be back next week.
Send me the info off the data plate on your vacuum pump and I will see what I can find out next week.  My MH is in storage and I will have it next week and I will also look at my pump for info.  Maybe we all can save some money this way.

Gary, Could that be GAST. They are makers of all kind of pumps, pressure and vacuum small & large. I replaced mine 2 years ago. They can be obtained from Granger also

Bill, GAST is probably right, I'll get with my DIL when she gets back and see if I can get us a deal of some kind if they have a compatible pump. I'm thinking that since she works for what I think is a master distributor that price may be better than FOT.

Last year in Mexico I repaired 2 vacuum controls for dash air from friends class A's. Could not get them down there so I took them apart and the little contactor was a bit off on both and when I altered them slightly the pumps worked fine. Put them back on and all was well. Maybe you should try that first?? I know one was a Ford style unit but the make, no I do not know

If your unit is the original or a direct replacement it is probably a vacuum generator that uses compressed air to generate a vacuum.  I purchased a 12V vacuum pump from FOT last November for $216.59 plus shipping as a replacement unit.  It was an easy install and I capped off the air line that was used on the vacuum generator and now have one less spot for an air leak.  The P/N on my invoice is 00840005.

Bruce,
I had a problem with my vacuum generator. I took it apart it is a simply design. It generates a vacuum via a venturi tube. Mine had a check valve that went bad. I bought a new check valve  at NAPA for about $6.00 Works fine. NAPA has generic dash air parts. That is where I found it. Good Luck.  Karl

I also had the original vac pump replaced with a 12 VDC pump, mainly due to possible air leak and/or vac problem.  Problem found a year later, turned out to be a wire off a relay on a/c control found by FOT within 20 minutes.  Dash heat/ac is his main duty, very sharp tech who knows his stuff.

I replace mine several years ago. Got it from MOT and it was not cheap. Sounds like same one as Monti.

Dug into the problem last night, the vac reservoir(juice can) had a hole rusted in it. The vacuum generator is getting a new plastic box, check valve, and new hose. All should be good, thanks for the replies.
