Time to revisit - ForeForums FMCA chapter interest poll
Background - a little over a year ago we conducted this same poll. The net result at the time is that there was inadequate interest in the leadership roles needed to make the formation of an FMCA chapter a success, so the idea was tabled.
One of our members recently contacted Steve and I to express interest in a technical rally
Hey, here is an idea. Probably not new, but I'll suggest it anyway. What about having a rally at some nice location with presentations that focus on the technical aspects of our coaches.... electrical system, Cummins engines, CAT engines, Allison transmissions, water systems, sewer systems, air suspension, brakes, etc. The focus would be on how things work in general and maintenance, not repair. Speakers could include people form the forum like Brett and maybe some from FT, like James. One presentation in the morning, one in the afternoon. Evenings could include local stuff, coach tours (of those attending), '"garage sales", etc. This would be a great leaning experience and fun too.
The challenge in holding a rally is the need for insurance, most easily provided by becoming an FMCA chapter. Since there is renewed interest in holding a rally....
As was the announcement of the previous polling:
This is a study to see if we have enough interest to form a ForeForums FMCA Chapter
Many folks have expressed the desire to get together so we can socialize as a group. At chapter gatherings we can actually share in our cumulative experience "live". Imagine that you can now be actually shown where that mini light bulb is by one of the more experienced and technically inclined and willing folks on the forum. Or, how to get at that forsaken fuel filter for the generator? Or, more importantly, decide, once and for all, which is "the best hot dog in America"?
Reason to organize as an FMCA chapter: FMCA provides the liability insurance at no cost to the chapter for gatherings at public & private campgrounds.
To become a ForeForums Chapter member you would need to be a member of FMCA.
Annual Foreforums Chapter dues of $15 would cover the ForeForums SMF web fees and other chapter activities.
You do not have to be a Chapter member to continue enjoying the ForeForums.
The ForeForums FMCA chapter is not intended to compete with, duplicate, or replace the Foretravel Motorcade Club, its chapters, or activities. Foretravel is aware of the interest in formation of a ForeForums FMCA chapter and isn't opposed to it as it will be separate from and doesn't compete with Motorcade.
