Give it a try and report back.

They might be too blue in tint to work with the orange lens (I like warm white LEDs), and they might not have enough LED density to produce sufficient light output.

By the way, being waterproof might not be important so long as they are mounted inside the existing porch light enclosure.

I am currently in a campground with no lighting. The LED's provide slightly less light than the fluorescent tubes. There is room for two more rows, but for us the light is adequate. Our lamp lens is clear.

I converted my entry light to LEDs and changed to a clear lens a couple of months ago. I had several 40LED/foot rolls (type 3528) in warm white so I snipped off two 1 foot strips. Would have liked to have used the waterproof strips but I only had a 20LED/foot roll with the silicone and I wanted to make sure they were bright enough. If someone wanted the lights to be even brighter, you could use 3 or 4 rows or change to type 5050 LEDs. As you can see in the photo, the two rows are plenty bright and use about 5 watts total.

Cost: about $3.75 for two feet of LEDs plus $9.95 for a clear replacement lens for the Thin-Lite (purchased locally). The light fixture for the U300 entry is a TL-162C and the replacement lens can be found at: Thin-Lite Replacemet Lenses  Make sure to specify amber or clear.

Great idea, I found a 16 foot roll on Amazon for less than 20.00 and I can think of several places that an LED conversion will take place.

I also replaced the flourescent bulbs (failed) with LEDs. by desoldering three G4 replacement LEDs that I got off eBay for $3.00 each. Not water proof, but still working after 8 months. I left the original yellow lense because I did not want it to be as bright as the flourescents. It is surprising how little light is needed during a dark night. I purchased thirty of these G4 replacement bulbs and have used them in the fixtures, in the closets, for isle lights, and under the sink. I did not use them to replace the halogens in the puck lights because the gold rings were broken, instead I replaced the entire puck halogen fixtures with LED fixtures with non-replaceable bulbs.

Sounds as if everyone has the LED conversion down. Yes, ebay and Amazon have a lot of information and you can order from a U.S. location almost as inexpensively as ordering from China and save a week on the shipping time.

I am half way through converting all our clearance/ICC lights to LEDs. I bought three sets of ten of the following "4 LED 5050 SMD T10 501 W5W" lights to replace the T10 bulbs in the stock lights. They have LEDs on one side only so are perfect for the replacement. The upside is you can use the stock light and don't have to struggle up on the roof removing the stock lights with their too short wires and replacing the fixture. They should also last forever. The down side is the red and yellow lenses are usually tired and need replacing and the stainless parts may need a little work or the lights may work intermittently. Each one of our lights takes two T10 style bulbs. Check to see if your lights take the same bulb. Some may be different!
