Re: Front TV mount

Being much less mechanically inclined than Brett (and probably most everyone else on this forum), I simply removed the plywood tv box and ripped off the vinyl, took it apart and cut the sides down so that it would barely protrude below the upper dash when reinstalled, sanded and stained it (Minwax antique walnut) then I added a piece of the highest quality plywood stained to match and hinged to the underside front edge so that it swings up under that old tv compartment when stowed. I put a few magnetic catches to hold it up and away when parked and a barrel bolt inside the old tv compartment to secure it up while on the road. You have to use spacers to hold the flat screen mounting bracket away from the plywood in order to get the wires tucked behind the screen. It is a 26" Samsung LED and I love it. Doesn't look custom but it is functional.
