MOT or FT for minor mechanical work

We will be headed to Texas in a month and want to have some minor mechanical work done on the coach and also our scheduled oil change.  We don't very often get to do this in Texas.  We have had work done at both places in the past and wandered if they are both still competitive in price and quality.  Thanks for your responses.  Art

We just came from FOT and are now at Xtreme.

We only prefer FOT because of their over night facilities. It is a lot easier to drive and park around FOT than MOT.

Either place is OK. But I suggest that you call for an appointment in advance.

For the items you want to get done (mechanical, oil change) MOT & FOT are both competitive (definitely cheaper than Cummins).  It's all in your outlook.  You can make either experience a good one or a bad one.  Just stick around when the techs are working on the coach and ask a lot of questions.

Art,
I have experience with both. "you pays your money and you takes your choice". as far as competence, courtesy, efficiency, price, it makes not a particle of difference. The campground at FOT is a plus IF you are overnighting. Do, please, heed Peter's advice, stick around and be involved, but not in the way.

I will say for most repairs, I use MOT as they are more responsive and open about staying in the coach and talking to the tech. Also they have a better billing system.  IF they remove something all the parts and the shops supplies etc are removed. Their billing is much easier to read.  As for service skills, I have found more consistent results with MOT than FOT.  SOme things though at FOT are stronger. David Flanigan shop is second to none...

Their (MOT) billing is much easier to read.

Sigh.... especially since FOT changed their system, I think it was this year.  Older work orders/receipts contain much more useful information than the new software (boat/marine-industry-based, I believe).  We would vote for FOT to, at minimum, change back to what they had before.

We use both depending on what we need to have done (and in some specific cases, who is running the best pricing at the time).

We have always gone to MOT but our last service was done at FOT because some minor body work was needed and decided on FOT rather than have to move the coach. I have to give MOT the edge on service because of the quality of the technicians and better comunication with the technicians. I have no complaints with their paint deptartment. Like others have said it depends on what needs to be done.
