charging question

I now have a samsung residential fridge.  no solar panels.
when I am underway the fridge will be running off the inverter.
my question is:  since the alternator senses voltage from the
chassis batteries,  will I have to have the boost switch on when
underway, to enable the house batteries to be charged from the
alternator?

I believe the battery isolator will do that for you
automatically.

I believe so.
I find on mine when the chassis battery is charged the current going to charge the house batteries is very low unless I put the Boost on to equalize both sets it will never charge at a acceptable rate..

The charge rate and the needs of the batteries have a lot to do the size of your battery bank and alternator.  On the Foretravel's made for all electric to begin with we have 6 size 8D or 4D batteries, and a 320 Amp alternator.  In other coaches the draw of the fridge may be a greater load on the battery bank and the alternator may have limited charge capacity for house and chassis power.
