Cheap fix for front clearance light

One of my front clearance lights (above the windshield) was out and when I pulled it I found that the bulb contacts were in bad shape.  Tried to find a replacement fixture in Tucson but without any luck.  Then went to a local auto parts store and they had a replacement bulb holder for about $2.  Works like a charm.  See the photo below.

Be sure to add a bead of high grade sealant to the fixture when you reinstall.  I had a leak in the driver's side lamp, and Xtreme suggested this type fix.  These are known to leak as the gasket material ages & hardens.

Good advice.  There was no gasket behind the light.  So I sealed the edges of all the clearance lights with silicone caulk.

I changed all mine out for LED ones. Cost 271 dollars and two hours of time.

John,
You just made me feel real good.  I did my front and rear for $90 with Grote SuperNova Low-Profile Leds.  Even got the chrome bezels with them.

They were trucklite and I had to make sure the rear had an angled lens on it.  I got them from Truck Parts East in Charlottsville.  But anywhere that sells them should have them for our coaches.

IF you do it though check the wires first. All of my wires were reversed and the hot was not the hot so I just switched them all as I put them up. Not a big deal but I do not know if all coaches were done that way.

You did well - life time warranty!!!  I live a half hour from the main office and know people that work there and can't get any kind of a deal out of them.  My boy work at a truck parts store just down the road from trucklite factory and as to order them from a distributor 1000 miles away - go figure???
