Vacuum cleaner removal

It looks like the built-in vacuum cleaner is going to have to go in order to put in a decent-size refrigerator. It looks like it is just mounted to the floor with a few screws, but looks can be deceiving. Any hints?

I have not removed mine, but it looks to me that it's just like yours... should be an easy removal. We kind of like ours though and so far there is enough room in that compartment for the converter, the inverter and the MPPT charge controller without removing anything. Might get warm though; time will tell.

Just took mine out this week. Easy peasy. Six screws and a couple of wires and, of course, the vacuum hose itself. Nice to have the extra space under the fridge.

We still have our central vac but use our light weight Oreck 10 to 1 over the central vac. Of course we suck up a grocery bag full of dog hair daily. We have a white dog and burgundy carpet. The Oreck is fantastic. We should have bought one many years ago.

Just this week noticed or realized the exhaust air goes down into the bay.  I was vacuuming the bays, and discovered the discharge vent hole blowing on my head.

We have two Dyson vacuums as DW does not like the built-in unit.

We use them in the house but take one along on trips.  They work very well but are pricey.

They have the neatest tool for dog grooming.  We use it on Blue and he loves it.  Get enough hair to make a new puppy each time!  Hard to explain it so here is a Youtube link to it's use:

I'm not sure of the Oreck model we have but it was the least expensive model we could buy. Its cost was about $200. I also know that you can buy used ones for about $75 when they are available from the Oreck store. We highly recommend them and you don't need the expensive ones.

The reason for the removal of the OEM vacuum cleaner is that it looks like I'm going to have to drop the shelf for the refrigerator and the vacuum cleaner is in the way. Jo Ann also prefers her Rainbow to anything else.

Well, I finally got it out. There were a total of 12 screws that had to come out, plus one that must have been dropped during construction (I found it loose back there). Two of the screws were inside the canister, which made removal fun. I suspect that the vacuum cleaner was installed before the refrigerator floor was in place. There is some sort of monitor or sensor for something down in that cabinet. I'll post a picture of it on a new thread later this evening.
