Meritor brake helper springs

We just received our order of Meritor brake helper springs and was surprised how strong the springs are.  They don't even seem to fully compress.

Are these the ones that others have installed?  I assume they are designed to help force pads off rotor when brake pedal is released. 

Do they make it harder to apply brakes?  Do they increase space between pads and rotor, causing pads to move further when applying brakes?

Do they get in the way as brake pads wear and the pads shift over on the slide pins?

Those are the ones. Not really that strong. No increase in pedal pressure required as far as I can tell.

Barry, I just replaced rear brakes and I had helper springs put in. I can't tell any difference and even tho they are strong springs I assume that with the pressure applied by the brake air chambers that it would be negligible. They are a bear to install, compressing them to place them then putting the slide in thru them will tax your patience.  Two man job on mine, mechanic held slide pin, helper compressed and put spring in place as mechanic inserted pin.

No noticeable difference in the pedal feel or brake action that I can feel
