Found on Craigslist - 1996 Foretravel U295 - 40 foot - For Sale in Sapulpa, OK for only $39,900!

Found a Foretravel for sale on my local Craigs list, which is an unusual event. It was listed by Wade's RV Clinic in Sapulpa, OK (just South of Tulsa) as a "1996 Foretravel Unicoach 295 Front Diesel"! The short description said it was 36 ft and only 64k miles, "BEAUTIFUL inside and out."
 
I went to look at it this afternoon and was impressed with the overall condition and the large amount of storage. It appeared to be mostly stock except for a "Banks Power" sticker at the front and the back. It has two full-width Joey beds, one about 38" wide and the other 58" wide; I did not check the DOT code on the tires. I did not have anything to write down the Fortravel model number, so I took a picture of it and came home.  The Motorcade number is 16486.
 
The only two flaws I noticed were some loose edges in the lower decal stripes and a small bulge near the lower left hand side of the rear door (about 3" wide and 1.5' high); I pushed on it, but it felt solid.
 
I was just looking at the model number and realized it was a 40 footer, not 36:

I assume the asking price was set, thinking it was only 36'.
 
Unfortunately, I am not yet in a position to pull the trigger, but someone out there might like to know about this Foretravel.

Seller is still calling it a 36' (???).  He must think it's a "front diesel" because he saw the diesel generator "under the hood".

Thanks, Chuck; I have modified the link in my original post. I assume they closed that link to drive more business to their website.
 
I did look at other listings in their inventory; a lot of them are called "front deisel" but I suspect are not.
 
I did find out that it is on consignment by the previous owner.

Depending on the condition of many of the hidden items, one might be able to get a decent deal on this given the starting price.  Interesting that its on consignment, yet the owner wouldn't call to correct the ad WRT the length and engine position.  Probably an estate sale.

one of the windows in the dining room was broken, but the dealer was having it replaced. The pictures look like there is not a mattress on the bed, but I did not notice that.

The story that the salesman gave me was that the owners had this for about three years, but the wife wanted one with a slide. They came in and bought a 1999 Country Coach and put this one up for sale.
 
I did notice it was tagged in Montana, like so many of our retired neighbors. :-)

Is there anyone withing reach of Sapulpa, OK, who is able to go there and give me a full evaluation of this coach? We are considering making a trip to see it and would like to find an third-party expert evaluator.

I'm just up the street from there in Tulsa. (waiting for Xtreme to finish up on a repaint)  I'll go take a look if the weather permits.  There was a wall cloud very close to there yesterday afternoon.    I'm a Seattle kid ...... this weather is too violent for me!

Thank you, David, for making the effort to go to Sapulpa to look at the coach. This weather is too violent for native Midwesterners much less those of us who are imports.

My son stopped by to look at this coach today. He is not a motorcoach expert but he is a very mechanical guy and has an eye for design. He said it looked very clean to him and in very good condition visually. If it was more family oriented he would probably have made an offer. FWIW

Kent, it's really not a family-oriented coach and I'm sure glad he didn't make an offer since I went to look at it today ... and made an offer. Pending completion of some tests, fixes, etc., it looks like there is a Foretravel in our future!

It might mean that it drinks 6, feeds 4, but only sleeps 2, like most motorhomes.  Families seem to need bunk rooms for kids and friends of kids.  I say let them sleep on the floor or outside in a tent.  If we had had children they might have decided to leave home at a young age maybe.

We started out in a tent, bought a bigger one, then another, an old Class C, back to a big tent, a smaller tent (kids gone), a small TT, and now the Foretravel. I consider the Foretravel to be the friendliest of all.

The Honda Element has seats (the front and rear fold down flat to make two " bunks", perfect for those occasional overflow guest that don't fit on the scissor couch. Takes just a minute to fold them or put them back if nothing is in the area behind the rear seats.

We did have 6 kids and we had a nice looking saying hung on the wall at the front door: It said:

"OK, so this isn't exactly home sweet home. Adjust!"

All 6 of them survived in spite of us.

Back to the point, a Foretravel could handle 4 grand children: 2 on the pull out sofa, one in the big reclining comfy chair, and 1 every 4 days one would sleep on the floor. That would keep me from selling my FT.

But that's me. As the old saying goes, YMMV...

Congats, I trust your offer will be accepted. It sounded like a pretty good deal to me.

Paul, family oriented is tile or vinyl floors and separate beds for the two girls and fabrics that are not as luxurious and more stain resistant. IMHO
