Use of Verizon Droid Maxx as internet hot-spot.
I have a Motorola Droid Max and my Verizon plan has unlimited internet. I have used FoxFi to link to my computer. The last time I used it my phone locked up and requested a pin # (I have never set one). Verizon were baffled and it took a "Factory Reset" to fix things. FoxFi is now owned by June Fabrics yes, really, that's their name. I have included below their answer to my problem for anyone who is interested.
Now my question. Is anyone using a better way to link their cell to their computer wireless without Verizon giving them a hard time over their unlimited plan?
Steve? Michelle?
Keith
That is because the Android system enforces the screen lock when you
install the FoxFi certificate (or any user certificate). If you no
longer need to use FoxFi, simply select Settings->Security&Screen
Lock->Clear Credentials. This will remove the FoxFi certificate and
after that you will be able to set Screen Lock to "None".
If you still use FoxFi you can not avoid the screen lock but you can set
a pattern lock instead of PIN lock, or use USB mode instead of WiFi
mode.
Thanks,
