Rear panel electric fans. When should they run?

I have two electric fans on the rear panel in the grille. I have not seen them run. The engine runs cool so maybe it takes more heat to turn them on. I have looked at the electric schematics that I have and I don't see them. Thanks, Mark

I think they would have been added by the previous owner as I don't think foretravel put fans on the grill

thank you Red Tractor for your reply. I was thinking this was an add on, but looking at the wiring it looks original. The fans look like they were always on the rear panel. You maybe right because the don't seem to be on the wiring digram. I thought before I rip into the wires I would ask here. It looks like it was set up to blow the hot air from the engine comp outward, but the wireiring and quality  of the job looks original . Thanks, Mark

Mark,
I'll take a guess that those fans were installed to run after the coach is parked in order to try to keep the bed cool after a days driving.  You might try looking for a switch near the bed.  And you might just want to keep them as well until you can verify you don't need them.

I believe your coach has a side radiator?  I'm thinking the original purchaser had a rear radiator on his prior coach and had a problem with the bed staying hot at bedtime due to the residual engine heat.  The rear radiator design has a tendency to block the heat in.  He probably had Foretravel add these fans for his new coach even though the rear radiator isn't there anymore.  Just a guess with a lot of extrapolation.

Thanks John. You are correct I have the side radiator. I will look for a switch and follow the wires and see what I find. Mark

I finally had a day where I had time to check out the wiring and the mosquitoes didn't pick me up and haul me back to the house. The fans are wired to run when the hi-speed radiator fans are on. The in line fuse holder was cooked. It has heavy wiring but the fuse holder was replaced with one that was to light. The system gets powered from the house side of the boost relay. I don't think the fans are necessary, I have not seen the engine temp get above 200 and that was on a hot day from Phoenix to Flagstaff. Around here in the 80's the engine temp stays below 190.Mark

Put auxiliary fans back together. One can never get enough cooling. And while coolant gauge does not show over 200, parts of the engine are way hotter. One gauge does not tell the whole story.
