See Level system installed

OK I did not do this myself but it was done today. I purchased the See Level system for the grey, black and fresh water tanks. I thought perhaps I would install the system myself but as I have the progressive 50 surge thingy to install decided I would have the thing done by the vendor. Well after he installed the thing it  appeared as though everything was OK. However once the fresh water tank dropped to 3/4 full the See Level read 33%. The installer spent three hours this AM trying to figure out what the problem was. All three of my tanks are tall and he had to use double strips on all tanks. The only way he could get the system to read correctly was to run a separate wire pair from the fresh water tank sensor to the monitor. The black and grey tanks are fed to the from the monitor to the sensor by a single wire pair. Had I decided to install the system myself I would probably still be scratching my head. Anyone on the Forum have an issue like this with the See Level system?

I installed the Seelevel system a month ago, and had no problems (works fine), but I ran a new 2-wire cable from all of the sensors to the indicator panel.

The installer ran a single thermostat 2-wire cable from the sensors, that was the problem. After he ran a second one everything seem to be OK. I will eventually run another 2-wire cable from the propane tank.

I installed my self. Used only one strip per tank.
Fresh water mounted to bottom quarter of the tank, others mounted near the top of the tank ( as per conversation with Garnet people in Granbury Texas) Saved $243.00 on 3 more strips! Rationale was did not care if tank was empty on Black & Gray water tanks, only when it was filling up. Same only reverse thinking on fresh water tank, did not really care if it was full, only is if was getting towards empty.
Was a pretty easy install as I used the single blue wire (1) from the old Audit system and existing wire for the propane tank, got power from a wire on the old Audit system. Kept the old wire running to the dash in place for possible use in the future

Dave,
I am in the process of installing ours right now, so this is a timely subject... especially since you have the same year and model coach. Did you use two displays, and what gauge wire did you run? I have a bunch of 18 gauge speaker wire that is loosely twisted together (makes it easier to pull and less cross talk potential). I want to put a display in the utility bay and in the coach where the inverter display is installed and trying to work out the best wiring scheme and wondering what you came up with...

I installed see-level last year and used two stripes per tank. I bought two complete systems when they were on sale (internet) because that was less costly then buying three stripes, so I installed two displays. One display beside the driver and one in the kitchen. I used the original audit wire for the driver's display and ran new #18 wire through the floor to behind the toilet and up through the bathroon and dinette cabinets where there is lots of room. I had already removed the stapled in ceiling and flooring of the bathroom/dinette cabinets and reinstalled using small brass flat head screws. I have had the dinette cabinet ceiling panel out several times already.

My see-level system works as designed. The fresh water indicates about 10 gallons high. I doubt that the wire size will cause an issue, however, dirty connections or breaks in the wire could cause errors. I soldered the connections at the tanks and made sure the wires were shiny clean at the display connectors. The other things which can cause problems are metal near the sense stripes, 120VAC wiring close to the see-level wiring, or a faulty ground. I ran seperate wires for the ground from the sense stripes to both displays.
