Reflectix, Energy Efficiency Question

In trying to up the efficiency of our coach in the summer time with 98 degree heat and 80-90% humidity outside we have read about people here using Reflectix bubble wrap insulation in the front windshield, question is over the years with the foil face facing outward has the heat reflected caused the windshield to crack any?
We do have a couple of rock chips that have been repaired, with no cracks and I don't want to replace the windshields for using a foil faced insulation against them.

OR has something new been tried that is better than the Reflectix insulation?

Thank you all

Thanks Gam, sorry forgot to add we do have sunscreen covers for the front windshield, drivers window and door window also.
We are full time while our house is being built and the rv park we are staying at we face the east so morning sun is terrible on the front of coach. We normally don't open the windshield night shade trying to conserve the A/C.

Kerry,

Since you are fulltiming, does that mean you aren't going to be selling the rig? I had noticed your ad still in the classified last week, didn't know if you had sold it or not.

Kerry, the Reflectix works well to help with the hot/cold issues at the windows. We have used it many times to help in winter and summer temps. Also have used it in areas that I thought may need insulation that were to tight for anything else. Easy to cut to any size or shape.
In our prior motorhome there was a window at the head of the bed and I installed the Reflectix with Velcro and left it in place for about 2 years with no issues.

We use it in the Foretravel to help maintain temps andkeep the bedroom dark because I don't sleep well with any light.
Dee says I need to stop sleeping with my eyes open. ::)

I wouldn't hesitate to use it at the windshield.

Dean thanks for the information, we would like to try it but we're just looking for advise from those who have actually used it.

Larry we do still have the MH for sale since we sold our house we are living in it till we complete our new home. We had some people look at the MH and had their house for sale but may have ran into complication on their sale so the MH is still for sale.
If we do sale the MH before our house is complete we have some friends that will let us use their travel trailer...it will be a big step down from Foretravel but it would only be temporary.

We use Reflectix in the front windshield in front of the MCD shades (and in front of the accordion shades when we had them) whenever it's going to be really hot during the day or cold at night.  Never had any problems with windshield cracking.  We also have Reflectix sheets cut for the two bedroom windows and one of the living room windows, and will use them if temps are extreme.  Great stuff!  Lasts 3 or 4 years.

Thank you Dave, we are now trying to find someone close to get the Reflectix. Looking like we might have to order some.

A Google search shows Amazon, Lowes, and Home Depot have Reflectix.
