New Furniture for 94 U225

I looked at some of the pass communication about furniture & furniture upholstery replacement but I could not really find what i was searching for. I have a 94/U225 and i was planning to get the furniture updated with new upholstery. I know two good old timers still do great work and i got my truck done last year and it turned out great. Well I went back to them. They will do the captains chairs ($1500), the lazy boy ($400) & they may do the barrel chair ($450) but they won't do the couch (sleeper sofa). They both also advised me to check on the price of a new lazy boy, chair, sofa & captains chairs. They think I maybe be better off buying new. What i don't know ( Also I will call FT ) what and where to buy ... what model how will it fit my FT. I mean I don't think any and all captains chairs or sofa bed will fit in the .. using the same bolting places, etc. How do i figure out where and what to look for. Captains chairs are in ok shape but I really need to get the sofa done, first and foremost. Thank you, AL

You can order them from villa.  They are a pain to deal with though.

FWIW, I would recommend you keep looking until you can find someone who would do it all.  You could then get exactly what you would like and something that would fit perfectly without question.  Maybe just bug the same guys you have already spoken to about doing all or none of the job?  Especially if you have been happy with work that they had done previously.

Search past threads for Mexico shops, good reviews and savings could justify the trip

In 2008 we took our '93 U225 to the Factory and left it for about 6 weeks for some remodel.  We had purchased the flooring we wanted installed, but had them do the job.  We also had the sofa & barrel chair recovered with fabric and re-foamed, the pilot & co-pilot chairs recovered with ultra leather and reformed, the dash recovered with Ultraleather and the valances redone.  To the best of our recollection, the cost for all the upholstery work (not including the floor) was in the neighborhood of 5 Coachbucks.  Seems pricey ... until you realize the cost of replacing all those things and the work involved.  The work was impeccable, the sleeper sofa was actually as comfortable as it was ever gonna be and the pilot & co-pilot chairs were the best we have ever ridden in.

We have to agree with Carol. Our interior was done by Dave Flanagan's group at Foretravel in 2009. We have seen many other coaches that have had some level of re-upholstery or furniture replacement by others and even new furniture doesn't compare to the work done by Foretravel's upholstery shop. If it isn't done by Foretravel, it just doesn't look like it belongs in a vintage Foretravel. Our advice is spend the extra bucks and get at least the original couch and Captain's chairs done at Foretravel.

If you have the original barrel chair, I would also suggest having it done at Foretravel. The Lazy boy was not original so you may just want to buy a new one or another recliner. We just spent $850 to have an original relciner reupholstered and although it looks very nice would have preferred that we had waited until we could take it back to FOT. The Ultra Suede original recliner has replaced the leather Paliser Euro Chiar. IT makes the interior look much roomier.

In hindsight and with space at a premium in the 36' models,  you might want to replace the barrel chair with a nice dinette style chair and also go small and modern with the recliner as well.

Kent, that is the neatest I have ever seen you coach...How did Peggy keep you out so long to get that picture?  Or, did she do it while you got the new shoulder?

on my 1999 U-270 I had the couch redone at FOT (and the two dining room chairs) - they were all done in Ultr Leather - it was 6 years ago and the cost was just over 2 Coach bucks - nice work, but I would toss the scissors couch and go with a sleeper if it would fit.

Real cute Jeffry, that was a photo taken before I bought the coach. I hadn't had a chance to mess it up yet.

I priced the sleeper that could replace our jackknife sofa ... we have almost 72" ...  yikes.  Of course, getting the sofa in this '02 recovered is not much less than the replacement!  The sofa in the '93 was a tad smaller.
