New style Fridge Coming

Well, I just read that Atwood is going to be making a helium based unit instead of of the current mixture.  It will have a level system built in and should eliminate some of the fire risks. They are being careful as they do not want to make too much of the risks in the old units as I am sure they would have liability associated with it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I wonder if one of the residential refrigerator makers will start building a model or two for retrofit in RV's, something with deminsions (height wise) closer current rv models.

I would think that an apartment sized residential unit could be retro fit or maybe RVs should be made for that size now.  I know the new ones seem to be more and more often coming with household fridges. It is not a huge expense to change over and now I can fit a new household one in the coach if i need too again. I hope I do not not have to put another one in though.  I saw that they tried in 2011 but I think the number of fires and the recalls is getting to them and they were not as strong company just after the down turn. Now we have some unit growth but it is still much lower than it has been. It will be interesting to see the outcome.
