Disassembling Villa Reclining Chair

Help. I am trying to disassemble the Villa Reclining Chair in our 1997 U320. I've spent the week baffled and on the phone twice with Mike at Villa International. I would like to disconnect the back from the base, and get it out the front door. I think I feel what needs to come apart, but it is underneath the leather. Anybody remove their recliner before and have any tips?

We took the recliner out of our 1997 U295 without disassembling it. I don't remember how we did it. Since I don't remember any special actions, I expect my sturdy son and I simply put it in a reclined configuration and took it out the door on its side.

I expected the back to come off, but it appears that there is a single piece of fabric on the back that is attached to the base and the back. It never came off, so I know we didn't take the chair apart.

Think J. D. has it right. Put it in the reclined position, turn it sideways and out you go.

That's how ours came out of our U295.

We left it at Xtreme. The dog claimed it ;o)

It may help to remove the screen door.  Gives a little bit more room.

If the chair is large- removing the copilot chair has worked for me

Thank you all for your replies.  We did finally remove the chair successfully.

I just wanted to post what has to be done to remove a Villa Reclining Chair from a 97 U320, for future reference.

1. Screen door must come off.
2. Wooden base & front metal cross bar has to come off...removing the rear metal cross bar couldn't hurt.
3. Masking/painters tape the to protect the door/door frame/wooden grab handle/metal window frame and the chair.
4. Cover the driver and passenger chair and dash with blankets to protect them
5. Passenger chair in fully aft position.
6. Put chair in full reclined position, turn on it's side, and take it out the door.  Rotating slightly as it comes out.  Keep chair high enough that it is above the driver & passenger chair, dash and wooden grab handle.

It's really so easy.  Once you figure out the process.  :))
