Newbie in Southern CA

Hi everyone--

I have spent the past several months reading all the great information posted in this forum. Its about time I come out of hiding.

From all the great posts I've been able to read I've come to see that everyone here truly loves helping each other maintain and understand there Foretravel coaches.

I look forward to all of your inputs in helping me and my DW find our dream coach.

Thank you in advance

Welcome, Greg and Nettie,

For information on Foretravels you have come to the right place.  Questions?  Ask away.  Before we purchased ours this forum was of immense help.

Good luck with your search.

Welcome Greg and Nettie,

We all started this adventure in much the same way.  The more you know the better choices you are able to make.  And the help you get from folks who have been through this is good guidance as well.  Opinions vary but different points of view will help you understand what is important to you.  Best of luck in your search.

Welcome to the group, we too are fairly new on the scene as well, the ForeForums and the Beamalarm site are the major reasons I stuck with the pursuit of a Foretravel that would fit our needs. The people here and the product that is their passion will provide you with valuable information to guide you through the process of your purchase or to get you down the road.
We just returned from spending the better part of three months in ours (didn't go far because I still work a little), but the quality shows in a Foretravel.
Good luck in your endeavor to find the right coach for you both! We are just down the road from you so perhaps our paths will cross in the near future.

Welcome, Greg and Nettie.

I am right up the road from you -- near Thousand Oaks in Ventura County. How about editing your profile to add the year and model of your Coach?. It helps us to answer your questions, and you will have them -- like "what is this thing-a-majig?".

PM me if my Coach is similar to yours. You are starting on a grand adventure.

Everyone,

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. We do not have a coach as of yet but after all the research that I've been doing on this forum I do have some idea as to what we would like. I'm planning on a budget of 40 to 50K, including upgrades for the first year. 92 to 97 u300 40ft.
Not sure yet on the AquaHot or not. I'm pretty handy so I can do some upgrades myself. I will be buying sometime in the next 3 to 6 months. I will probably tow a trailer because DW's car would not be tow-able 4 wheels down. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks again for all of your help.

Welcome to the forum.

If you could find a coach that is owned by a forum member it will probably be in pretty good shape as I believe most forum members take good care them. You could also search their threads and comments on this web site to see the history of your, new to you, coach.  I did that with mine and found out some interesting things.  If you buy from a dealer most of the time the history, maintenance records and such are gone + the owner can tell you how everything works.

Carol and I couldn't be doing this without the help and support of the forum members.  They have saved us thousands of $$$ and they great folks.  Good luck and happy hunting.

Greg- I was so obsessed by Foretravels I read every thread on this website before and after we purchased.  It took weeks.  The prospect of owning a DP was overwhelming to me.  So many systems, so many potential problems.  But still I knew it was the way for us to go.  Since we took possession we have encountered many challenges.  With each challenge, with each problem, we have sought member input and every time a solution was shared.  The coach we purchased was in good shape.  We purchased it from a private party-a widow lady that didn't know much about it's operation.  I knew when we purchased her that there would be things that needed to be addressed immediately and other things would occur - just because.  Since March of this year we have spent $13K, new tires included on things that needed attention.  I think that one must enter into this FT ownership partnership with a clear understanding that things will go wrong, break and be replaced.  As I stated before, this is a great forum filled with many giving people.  Ask your questions - none to simple.  Someone will answer and or direct you to where the answer may be found.  Each FT out there is a gem.  Find the one that sparkles in your eye.

Greg and Nettie, we live in Orange County, City of Tustin, If I can be of any help please Email me on forum.  We have had four Foretravel's and now have the luxury of semi retirement that enables my wife and I to travel about a hundred days a year.  Love the life style but will always keep our stick house as we need it for family reasons.  Good luck in your search and let all of us know how your search is going.  Elliot

I know what you mean about obsessed. I've been pouring over all the post on the forum since April. Everyday and usually every night. I truly enjoy the way everyone is willing to jump right in and help. What a great community.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to sharing our story as it progresses. I will be retiring by the end of the year and look forward to hitting the road soon after that in a "new to us" Foretravel. I'm very excited!
