Fresh water system

Has anyone modified the freshwater system so that water can be poured in?  Sometimes a pressurized freshwater source is not available.  I have a couple of ideas, but wonder if anyone has done it.

Another option is to buy a spare fresh water pump and plumb it with hose fittings IN and OUT.  Mount on a board with 12 VDC cigarette type plug. Then you can pump water into the coach.

As mentioned in BeamAlarm, our gravity water tank fill serves us well.  About every 5 days, all year long, we gravity fill, then run from water pump.  Our original hose hookup connection has been plugged for over 10 years.  We fill fast, don't stress plumbing with city water pressure & can easily add one ounce of bleach for about 100 gallons of fresh water, all because we have a gravity fill.

Speaking of water pressure, most of the time we have hot water tank's electric heating element turned on so it ends up running for short bursts.  After our bi-monthly hot water tank drain, and when we have to heat a full hot water tank of cold water, we turn off water pump, and leave a faucet open while water is heating to prevent hot water expansion from over pressurizing our plumbing as it can get over 150 psi if system is closed.

When at extended dry camp sessions, like Lemon Rally, we bring five 5-gallon pails of water and use a spare 12-water pump to pump from pails into gravity filler.  An inexpensive drill-pump would also move pail water to tank.
