Foretravel Acrylic Doorstep Handle

Can anyone tell me where I can find the Acrylic Doorstep Handle for a 99" U270 40'? I would like to replace the one that is on there and have it engraved. Your help is appreciated.

I know I am posting a lot here about information, but I am at work in Kazakhstan and cannot find a whole lot of things I am looking at on the internet. I am 10hrs ahead of FOT and calling them to talk about some of these things is not really an option until I come home later this month.

I really do appreciate all of you who supply information.

You're right.... But with the Internet connection speed I have and getting booted off regularly I cannot search too much for answers and Barry comes to my aid regularly.....

Yep, Barry is the man!!

What's amazing is he knew nothing about Foretravels untill he became an owner. Well not much anyway.

He is one of our own self taught Guru.

There others on here as well. Not going to name names because there are to many.

We just replaced the door handle on our '02.  All it took was a call to the Factory and Mike Grimes.  I had read of folks having trouble finding a match, but all he needed to know was whether our unit had a doorbell or not.  Easy, Peasy.  Fast shipping.  Popped right in with no issue.

Whenever I take off the handle I also replace the gaskets. Cheap insurance

Ron, if you can with your connections, do a search here for "entry door handles". There is a wealth of information. I happen to have one with the doorbell in the upper housing and this is the bastard (not available) in the group. Others, I think are still available. Good luck.

gaskets can be hand made from a piece of rubber from Home Depot or Lowe's.  Or reuse original.

I understand now that there are at least 2 different end profiles on the plastic.  First time FOT tech took back the one he was given at the counter for the "other" style of plastic part.  Then my newer 98 came with the new plastic part, it required me to do some reshaping on the band saw, and the belt sander.

Web site "www.rvsurplus.net" shows two similar acrylic replacement "S" curved handles:

Item E5500D is 11 3/8 long and has a 8 1/4 inch bottom bracket. This is what my 1996 U320 has.

Item E7500D is 11 1/2 long and has a 7 inch bottom bracket.

There are other acrylic handles but they are not "S" curved.

I had to replace my lighted handle but it took some filing to make it fit.  In doing so the touch handle module went caput.  Was that ever a bear to replace.  It can be done, just takes time.

I've been tempted to replace the one we have, which is engraved with the original owner of the coach (Brown) but having that touch handle is so darn convenient I'm afraid to mess with the assembly for fear of doing something that would make that touch sensor not work. It makes finding the right key easy peasy; even with a flashlight in my pocket...

Craig no one wants that sensor to fail but I've had to replace it twice in 9 years.    What happens is the light won't go out after touching the handle.  Mike at FT has them in stock.  Pricy.  It's down below the cup holder beside pass. Seat.  The magazine rack has to come out to gain access.  Just giving info in case you have to replace someday.

Some one did a really good step by step guide on replacement / renovation of door handle a while back that sorted the problem I was having ( door bell model)
Another fan of Barry here , he has helped me with lots of issues

On my U225, 1993 model the touch sensor is in the first bay behind the entry door screwed to the overhead, and was very simple to replace as it did not work when we bought the coach.
