generator filter

Hey guys we have a 99 u320...and i can not find the secondary fuel filter for the generator...help

It is underneath and towards the rear behind the generator.

Look in front of the front wheel and behind the front door. You will see it hanging down halfway between the tire and the genset.

The descriptions are for the PRIMARY fuel filter. Secondary fuel filter is on the generator itself.

Remember, Primary is the first fuel filter and is between the fuel tank and lift pump.

Secondary is the second one the fuel sees (and is generally after the lift pump).

Primary first, secondary second, correct. I figured he was sking about the one most folks don't see right away. Took me awhile to find the other filter too.

Let me try, since we have the same model coach. The PRIMARY fuel filter is the difficult one to find. It looks like a chunk of metal at the end of the input line to the lift pump(which is the pump bolted to the floor of the generator compartment right in front of the genny. I replaced mine with a generic see-through filter from Advanced Auto.

I will disagree-- this is important, as having them reversed in ones mine will lead to getting the wrong micron rating filters.

Said another way, if the Racor primary filter (located separate from the generator) is considered the secondary filter, one is apt to choose a 2 or 5 micron filter element. But, it is the primary filter, and should be a 10 or 30 micron filter. If a 2 or 5, it would clog up pretty quickly and give the secondary filter on the generator a "free ride".

Rather than calling them primary and secondary, as there is some confusion, perhaps we should refer to them as COURSE (primary) and FINE (secondary) based on filter micron rating.

Ok, when did Foretravel start using the Racor PRIMARY filter and when did they go away from it. ?
A list of year models might help, as some seem to not be aware of the little Racor and its hiding location.
Have read where many had no clue about it until the genset had a issue.

The off-generator primary/first/course fuel filter can be seen by looking up under the coach from in front of the passenger's front tire.

Sorry, don't know if that was deleted, or what year that happened. Clearly there through 2003-- saw one two weeks ago doing a mechanical inspection.

To verify that it is the primary/first filter, trace the fuel lines. One will go to the fuel tank, the other to the generator.

On my 99 U320 I have no primary racor where Brett and others have described. The only similar looking filter is in the drivers side front compartment where the generator fan is located and that one is for the aquahot. I dont believe there is a primary generator filter on my model except for the one on the lift pump.

Looking at the owners manuals it looks like the Power Tech Generator SIK Kubota 10-12KW 2000 - 2006 had it.
Not sure about later models.

Now you all have me thinking, maybe it is the aquahot filter, fairly small sandwich style filter..i found it years ago, and have been all over under the coach now and can not seem to locate it.....

Fore travel have advised me to change the fuel filters on my power tech 10 , I can see the secondary ? Inside the casing should I also be looking for a primary in the passenger wheel arch ?
Can both filters be found at napa or are they special order .

There is a photo of your primary filter at the beginning of this thread. You should be able to get them at napa or Filterbarn

Found the primary rancor and bought new filters at napa , just working out the "how to" and suitable location

As a side note George mentioned low coolant level causing air locks in system , something to do with the two yellow handled stop valves on the expansion tank .
Can anybody advise
