I will disagree-- this is important, as having them reversed in ones mine will lead to getting the wrong micron rating filters.
Said another way, if the Racor primary filter (located separate from the generator) is considered the secondary filter, one is apt to choose a 2 or 5 micron filter element. But, it is the primary filter, and should be a 10 or 30 micron filter. If a 2 or 5, it would clog up pretty quickly and give the secondary filter on the generator a "free ride".
Rather than calling them primary and secondary, as there is some confusion, perhaps we should refer to them as COURSE (primary) and FINE (secondary) based on filter micron rating.
