Jack antenna noise

I have been looking for a noise or thumping on my roof for about 9 months.  So on this trip I wanted to isolate it.  It appeared to be in the crank up antenna.  Got on roof and the crank up was
tight no noise there even if twisting occurred.  Just touched the jack antenna and bingo has to be it.  I installed it on my crank up antenna using the old bolts which had pins to hold in not bolts with nuts.  It was loose and a shake shows a lot of movement could occur.  I am going to tighten it down as I feel it should solve the noise problem as wind is probably making it move while driving.  Come to think of it the noise started soon after I installed it. :P DAN

I mounted a Jack antenna on a friend's coach. He had a broken mechanism for raising and lowering the mast. I bolted two 1" square aluminum tubes 9" long together, with the same offset lengthwise as the existing mast. It mounts in the same way as the existing mast, but cannot be lowered, just rotated. It sticks up just enough to clear the AC housing next to it. I have4e seen a few new SOB coaches with the Jack antenna mounted on a fixed, nor-rotateable or lowerable base.

My old batwing banged on roof while traveling.  The new Jack antenna on the batwing mask doesn't.
