Tennesee RV (split from Re: Tennessee Grandvention)

Spent the day yesterday at Tennessee RV on the east side of Knoxville (I40 exit 398).  Another good service experience.  Had our passenger side windshield replaced as well as the Zip Dee topper awning over the slide ($~1500 installed).  There were 5 FTs there.....6 including us.  Highly recommended if you need service on your way to or from the GV.  I think James Holder, the service writer, and Brad Armstrong, their FT expert tech, will be at the GV sometime, but just for the day.  Not sure of the day.

Diesel at the Pilot station off of exit 398 was $3.769 (with Pilot/FlyingJ card).  Once you get over the NC line, the price was well over $4.

I have used Brad for a long time and he and Jack were the ones who worked on my first two coaches. Then they closed up and became Tenn RV and Camping world and I thought the service slipped a bit. I am happy to see it is back up to it excellent self.

RE Tennessee RV, CW is no longer at that site, (James Holder seemed very happy about the split) and they seem to have a quite a bit of FT work.

Do not know which way that came down , but from a business point of view , I can see both sides of that issue . CW has a control hold to a point , as they force inventory on the dealer that he might not want or need  , which takes up lots of space that would hamper the independent effort of the RV owners side . The plus side is , CW brings business into that store that otherwise would not be there . Most likely better off with out CW .  Brad Metzger

I had plenty of time to walk around the new accessory story at TRV that replaced CW.  Admittedly, it is not fully stocked (maybe 80%), but I was not impressed.  I planned to buy several items.  They had none of them, all of which are normally carried at CW.  I'm not a fan of CW.  The last time I went to the one in Tucson and said "why &*& $%#@ do I come to the place!"  Service may be lacking at some CW outlets, but they do have a good inventory.  Best CW store we've seen.... St. George, Utah.  Not all that large, but very well stocked with everything we needed and then some.

John,
I had the same excellent  experience, over many years, at the Kodak FT Sales and Service Center.  I was always able to insist on Brad or Jack for my work.
However, that is a fragile basis for a good reputation.
If Roger Sellers is still the principle owner and Allen (?) is still the Service Manager, I'm not going back for more abuse!

I am not a happy camper at Camping World! It Gets worse...

That was several thousand dollars of painful learning experience!

I also have unacceptable body work to remind me, on a daily basis, of TNRV's "failure to make things right".

I too come from a $$$$ painful learning go-round .  Took my 2003 , 320 there because one of the slides squeaked a bit , it worked just fine .Well, the slide got some scratches , has told it came in that way .The bladder was changed under warranty ,when I ask to see the old bladder as I had never had a look at one , was told that was not allowed .Had the light bulb changed over the entry ,$80.00 labor ,plus cost of bulb . Had a tail light bulb replaced , again another $80.oo labor , plus cost of bulb .There is more that I'll let rest  I complained to Roger Sellers ( owner ) was told " do you expect us to fix your coach for free " Net results---I drive right past Tenn. RV and have all my work done in NAC by Foretravel . I used to think of Roger as a friend , can't quite do that any more .One burn job is enough for me as it has a lasting effect . ( this might get scratched as it has a  political ring to it )          Brad Metzger

Interesting.....Well I hope I like the outcome of my service work there, interested in how the bill will look.... and the quality of the work.

I was told CW was leasing the space for the showroom, and was not involved in the sales/service end of the store, probably why they went to a separate store.

I have used MOT, FOT, Parliament and now Tennessee RV. James Holder (service manager at TRV) has a FT, and told me that someone from TRV is on the Forum, FWIW.

I too have had excellent service at TN RV. No one has mentioned Jimmy, a service tech there, but he is very knowledgeable about Foretravels. Our last service was find and repair a water leak (defective pressure reducer) and service the generator. Bill was about $300 for parts and labor.

They are still giving the 10% discount to Foretravel Club members.

I,like Duane, have always had great service at FOTennesseeand and at TN RV. There have been some jerks in the managers job in service but they usually didn't last long. There have been some fine ones, too. The best Allen Stanifer is now running their body shop which is up at exit 407' on the other side of I 40 from the old Kodak facility. Brad is still around and does really good work on Foretravels. Ihave not been to the place since CW moved, gotta be a plus. As I recall they were there to help Roger and his partner finance the whole move from Kodak.
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

I thought CW bought into TNRV. I heard Roger was running 5 locations for them.  I liked the old Kodak crew and they did my service  for years. Alan was always a body shop guy. I remember seeing him painting a coach to help out and get stuff finished. I used to love staying at he campground there and really liked the techs too. It was just CW I had no use for.

Brad and James stopped by the South Central Rally Sat. AM for our tech session and as previously stated CW was leasing space and has moved out.  They are working on getting the store stocked and admitted it is not completed.
CW did the same thing at Dandy RV in Al.

I cant recommend Tennessee Rv. Really wanted to.  LOVE MOT and Parliament. Truly believe in David Flanagan at FT for upgrades. PM me for any specifics RE Tennessee RV. That being said James Holder at Tennessee RV is a Rock Star. Unfortunately he isn't in charge.
