temp gage not working

I'm just now getting on the road & my temp gage is not working.  All other gages are working,  nothing is leaking (or appears to be).  Nothing has leaked as the coach has been in the pole barn all winter till now.  The site glass on the raidator shows fluid.  I have a 7 hr drive ahead of me & don't need any set backs, it seems a few years ago after some raidator work I had this same issue & Dave Head told me to check a couple wires & in fact one was disconnected,  I pulled over & checked what I thought where those same wires and everything seems to be tight. Last night I was doing some work in my dash board & my blinker alarm was disconnected & my tach was not working,  I fixed both of those problems.  While I was stopped I did what I could to see if I bumped something lose on the engine temp gage, but everything seems fine.  Everything seems to be running fine I just don't want any surprises & I hate being without the temp gage.  Any ideas? ?

Last post was written 30 miles into the trip now at 65 miles h out of no where the temp gage is fluctuating between 170-180.  Every now and again the needle makes a little jerky mark but has been consistent.  Still don't know exactly how worried I should be or not,  I don't want it to spoil my trip.

Sounds like a loose or bad connection.  I would suggest picking up one of those laser thermometers for taking temps in hard to get to spots and check your block and/or radiator on a regular basis until you can pinpoint the problem.  If you know where the sensor is, you may want to check that connection also.  These things are always a tough find.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

Most older Foretravels had poor grounding. No separate green ground wire to each area.

Ground to metal.  Not a green wire.

I notice my 97 has extensive ground wires with a wire mesh attachment point under the dash.

I your gauge grounds through the dash itself some corrosion might be blocking the circuit.

Twist it somehow?  The engine is not intermittent normally.  The gauge or ground or sending unit surely can be
