Coach weighing & height record

Escapee's RV weighing program has added height measurement using an official truck height tool.  Announcement attached.

Wow, 97 views and no one noticed that the good looking coach getting measured is a Foretravel!!!  :o  ;D

We were one of the first (if not the first) RVs measured as a part of SmartWeigh.... so they took pictures and put us in their ad!!!!!!!!!  ^.^d

We had this done in Livingston earlier this month (posted elsewhere on this forum).  Very competent staff.  The height measuring system was simple, but did the job.

There are "other" brands?  Who knew?  I called my insurance agent to get a new motorcycle covered, and she actually said, "BMW, they make motorcycles?".

What did your rig measure height wise?  We have a comparable '98 320 and we measure 11' 7" at the top of the a/c units.

We measured 11'5" but, now that I think about it...I'm not 100% that it was at ride height when we measured....  Had been sitting on the scales for a while, and we had a pretty good air leak at that point in time.

Either way... under 13' I slow way down and in-voluntarily duck...12' or less... I would find another route.

We're doin' both this morning, maybe.  It rained off & on, sometimes hard, yesterday afternoon and all night.  I think I'll drive down there first before moving the coach.

You definitely need an appointment, at the Escapee park in Livingston.  We rolled in on Sunday and hoped to get weighted on Monday, but were not able to setup it up until Tuesday.  Somewhere it says at least 24 hour notice.  And I think they only offer 3 appointments per day.

I highly recommend site #73 if you are there for SmartWeigh.

We had our coach weighed at the Escapee Park in Livingston earlier this month (on the 18th).  They offer appointments between 8a and 10a, Mon-Fri - and I had a choice of times when I called a couple of days ahead to schedule.  Here's their scheduling calendar:  http://www.escapees.com/smartweigh/SWCalendar.aspx

We stayed down in the Oaks (front) camping section - site #111 (pull-through, and easy out in the morning; red circle in the photo below).  It's right next to the campground check-in area (blue circle in the photo; blue star is the entrance from SR 146).  It was an easy drive (blue lines) to the SmartWeigh station - just a couple of minutes.  We got there a little early and parked in the laundry room parking lot which is adjacent to the scales (double red circles in the photo), while we waited for the weighmaster and her assistant.  Very competent - and very knowledgeable.

Ditto Pat's experience (except we are in 112) and were weighed this morning. 

Another exception:  I thought that they might cancel our 8 AM appointment because it was raining.  Nope, at 7:45 they called to verify our arrival and did an outstanding job in the downpour.

This is a very nice place with nice people.  I even met one of Brett Harrison's neighbors while out walking.

Harvey, we could very well have stayed in 112... heck, I can't remember what I just ate for dinner (30 minutes ago)!  I just took a SWAG and assumed it was site 111.  And, yes, the Livingston Escapees staff - check-in, mailroom, front office, SmartWeigh - are all very nice folks, and very helpful.  It's always a pleasure to stop there for a day or more!  ^.^d

Way back in the early 1970s on my first truck driving job I learned to involuntarily duck.  Peeled the roof of a furniture van trailer.  Needless to say, I did not haul furniture very long.  Spent the last 20 years of my truck driving career pulling tankers, and I still duck when going under a underpass or bridge.  It only takes one time to learn that involuntary reflex.

Once when I was driving my big rig through this town, I came to an underpass that wasn't marked and it looked way too low for me to make it through. I had just  gone through a busy intersection so backing up was out of the question. I stopped, (residential area) and folks were sticking their heads out their doors as I waited for the local gendarmes to come help me backup. After five minutes or so here comes another big rig right past me, never slows down and right through the underpass with no sweat. Looks can be deceiving.
