Tire Covers

Do you cover your tires when parked/stored for say more than a week?

We haven't, mainly because we didn't have any covers that would fit. However, we've got a trip to Springfield in the works, and I'm thinking that a detour over to Camping World for some would be a worthwhile side trip. The big challenge, though, will be coming home with ONLY the tire covers.

Yes, I have started doing that because my last set of tires lasted only 5 years before checking on the sidewalls deeper than 1/8".  Living at high altitude probably sped up the process but I'm hoping the tire covers will help.  Norm

I'm thinking I will start covering mine, however my last set of tires lasted 7 years before they strarted with sidewall cracking. I guess if it gets you another year on the tires it's worth it.

We're on our third coach and have always covered the tires. Road junk has gotten to them long before sidewall rot. I think it's worth the trouble and time. Next set will be the kind that snap onto the side of the coach since we tend to settle down onto the tires on at least one corner and the times that happens is the time it's raining on the day we're scheduled to leave and the cover (s) are wet. Still, I think it's worth it.

We cover ours, however I have read that their use is really questionable.

We do, as did the previous owner of our motorhome. We also covered the tires on our previous motorhome. We have not experienced any sidewall cracking (or other sign of deterioration) with either motorhome. I'm not certain it helps, but it does seem like a good idea.

Yes.  And I got the easy ones to put on and remove - Snap Ring TireSavers.  No crawling around on the ground trying to tie the covers.

Yes.

And according to a tire expert (a retired tire engineers is on my FMCA Technical Advisory Committee) they are a very good idea, as UV and heat are two of the things that degrade tires. He strongly recommends covers and WHITE ONES, as they keep the tires cooler than the black ones.
