89 U280 Cat foot pedal and RPM question

Hi,

Is the footpedal operated by air pressure?  I just noticed after starting up and the air pressure gone that the footpedal didn't respond until the air pressure started building.

How can the idle be adjusted up a couple hundred RPM?  It has a vibration at low idle that it doesn't about 200 rpm higher and I would like to adjust it up just a tad.

You have the bendix air cruise and the accelerator pedal is air operated. If you raise the bed and look at the mounting for the throttle, there should be an adjustment there to raise the idle speed

Dan, Not sure about yours but if you raise the idle too high the Allison will refuse to engage.  At least on the six speeds this is the case.

I think that I would try to determine why it is vibrating and fix that issue if possible.  May be just one of those resonant vibration things which are hard to shake out and fix, or may be an engine issue (injector?) that will only worsen in time.  There are vib. freq. testers that you can just set on the engine and they will give you the freq of vib which can be analyzed to determine cause.  I dont know much about them, but it may be worth your time and efforts to ask a few questions anyway.  Check with engine manufacturer (Cat?).  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

I 'assumed' the vibration at idle was normal ?
In neutral is not as bad as in gear but still there.
Any throttle at all takes the rattling (the coach) out of ours.
I think it is mostly the metal cover over the range top that rattles ?
