Foretravel Ice Sculpture

After three continuous days of below freezing temps and intermittent freezing rain/sleet/ice pellets, it is finally supposed to start thawing out here today.  Here being Midland, TX where the sun usually shines and we don't get much of this frozen stuff.  Best bet is to stay off the roads when we have these unusual conditions.  West Texans don't get much practice driving on ice, and it shows!  Remember the bumper car rides at the old amusement parks?  It has been kinda like that on the local roads for the last few days, only not as amusing...

I'm not far away from you, thawing out over here at Balmorhea state park in west Teksis... I was considering going down to Marfa but it's gonna be 20 degrees there tonight and there's no place to plug in ...so maybe I'll hole up here for a couple more days :)

That's a great photo!  Love the flared look to the sun.  Temps should be back up in the 60's by the weekend.

Chuck, I believe that there is a Penalty for allowing ice to touch a Foretravel. :)  Looks like you need a BIG hairdryer to get thawed out.
In the 40's in ATL, but that stuff is moving this way.  Happy Turkey day.

That's the first sunshine I've seen here since I pulled in during the ice storm on Friday. Balmorhea state park deeeep in the heart o' Teksis has the world's largest spring fed swimming pool, which is in the mid 70's even though the weather is in the mid 20's and snowing  ...this pool is huge and goes way around the corner to the left but you can't see through the steam and snow, it's 1.75 acres of warm water, ducks, and pretty good size catfish, and it's perfectly clear all the way to the bottom of the pool, which is about 25' deep ...I'm carefully considering the possibility of going for a swim, or more accurately I'm carefully considering how COLD it's gonna be when I eventually have to get out of the water! haha ...people have been swimming in the pool every day though, even in the snow.

Great pictures Scott. For me it would depend on how far the MH is from where you get out! :o

Well, up here in central Maine we haven't had that stuff yet but the temp this morning was 9.5 above. The wind was so bad this last two days I thought sure I was going to loose my cover but it stayed.

They say that thing is headed up here also.

Ordered a tank full of heating oil this afternoon.

Guess going south doesn't look any better that staying up north. LOL

Beautiful park, Scott.  We had a short, but great overnight stay there last year.  I had never seen a pool - spring fed or otherwise - that big before!  Thanks for the photos.

I just walked over to the pool and decided to let common sense win this time. I paid for another night so maybe I'll swim tomorrow if I feel brave and crazy. I just met a kid who loves my Foretravel. He's really into big trucks and he walked all around the park to look at every coach but he was magnetically attracted to the Foretravel because of the big rig wheels. The other coaches here are gassers and a Phaeton. He also likes my Honda dirt bike. The kid went swimming this morning but he said it was too cold! hahaha They're camped in a popup tent trailer and the mom said it was only 53 degrees in there with the heater running. The dad is in the Coast Guard but I didn't get to speak to him.

Greg, the kid told me the thing to do is run from the pool directly into the shower room by the pool and turn on the hot water... just in case you ever try swimming here at 20 degrees! hahaha

Common sense say not to swim. The rule of thumb is air temps and water temps need to be 100 or you need a wet suit.

I regularly get in my outdoor hot tub down to 0 degrees, getting out easier than in
