Inverter transfer

How long should it take for the Inverter to take over the AC system when the generator is turned off.  Currently my Freedom 25 takes about 30 seconds to power the AC system after generator shutdown.

Don't know exact time but , the coaches I've owned will produce a  moderately  loud clunk/thud sound as the switching takes place in (about) 3 seconds . The 03  320 I had, required a replacement switch and the cost was about $1,400.00 don't remember the name but think it started with a (Z). That was the only problem I ever had in that department .          Brad Metzger

Steve, On my 95 if I shut down the generator, or unplg from shore  with a TV on the changeover is almost instant, very little lag time. In fact that is why I leave the inverter off, I have lost shore power in the middle of the night and woke up to find that coach is running on inverter.

Makes sense to turn off inverter is to save house batteries in case of loss of shore power, but we leave our inverter on all the time, but have ways to not damage house batteries if we lose shore power.

1 We have a couple of outlets in the living area that are not on inverter for space heaters. We plugged power strips into washer & refrigerator outlets.

2 Have generator auto-start that on occasion has been our first indication we have been on inverter, but it comes on long before house batteries are real low.

3 Made a switchable buzzer that alarms if shore power is suddenly lost.

We like to have seamless 120-volt power for our DVRs,(computers, router, fan, weather radio, weather station etc), so leaving inverter helps our lifestyle. Our inverter switches fast enough from/to shore without causing our DVRs to reboot.
