Who Claims This Setup

Been trying to put this picture to a name, so far would vote for Pierce or John H somewhere south of the border.
A lot of goofy RV creations showed p on a bus forum, this is one of the more sane photos, many more insane, everything but a motorized teepee  ;D

We put that up, over a discussion about powering an A C unit.

Just a few days ago we were in Quartzite looking for neighbours who spend winter in that area of BLM and drove many miles in desert looking for them (finally found them) We did also notice many novel set ups for power harnessing very similar to that one. Another thing we found was a Nudist camp!!! yes, in the middle of the Desert there surrounded by aqll the other clothed campers. There is a little sign sayoing you are entering a "Naked area" but we missed it as we were looking for a certain coach. Suddenly all these very brown bodies appeared and it was a "no exit" location. So there are many things to see down there after all, not just Cactus!!!

Dave,

Ours are up about two inches from touching the roof but still can't be seen unless on a ladder. Have been thinking about charging an old roof AC with butane and seeing if an inverter will run it. Would be worth tilting the panels if the inverter would handle the startup load. But when the sun goes down...

Dave,

The Foretravel with all the solar panels and wind generators belonged to Glenn & Rocky Carlson from Washington state. We spent time with them 12 years ago at BLM LTVA Senator Wash located next to Yuma Proving Ground, north of Yuma west of route 95 on Imperial Dam Rd. Their coach had 'many' batteries all over their bays and they ran everything off their inverter. Very interesting couple and we hope they are still traveling and enjoying the good life, but we have lost track of them over the years.

Their son owned a boat yard and made new boats out of aluminum. Rocky and his son constructed aluminum roof structures our of heavy aluminum to support and store their panels and wind generator.

Here are a few more photos from that year.

BTW, Senator Wash was/is an very interesting unique dry camping place, made up of 'neighborhoods'. Fire & Safety service was free from Yuma Proving Grounds. There was an evening CB radio announcement every day letting everyone know what was planned for the next day. There were several pot lucks, weekly Jeep drives, free Army Golden Knights demonstrations, water, trash & dump stations. Thousands of RVers have been coming to their same spot for decades, staying for about six months each year. Within the BLM area is a Christian Church enclave that owns hookup camping, RV storage, mail delivery and has a few vendors selling solar, batteries, satellite and other RV stuff. We wonder how things are these days. One of our long time Foretravel Friends owns property in a beautiful mobile home park next to Senator Wash. I imagine that little has changed over the years.
